One of my many, many, gear regrets is not buying an OG MiG-50 when they were cheap. I remember it was a very good sounding amp.

Takes pedals really well, could be a cool way to get a bigger sound out of my combo amps with efx loops. Also that guitar is soooooo 🔥🔥🔥

I really need to get the Hizumtas. Such an awesome sounding pedal (and Wata is a boss). The combo of this preamp with the Hizumitas was so thick!

I passed up the chance to own a MIG 50 about 20 years ago and regretted it ever since. I've been tempted by the EHX reissue but now I've got 2 kids and not nearly enough space, so this one is just calling out to me!

Sounds badass! I made the horrible mistake of selling my Sovtek way back in the early 2000s and now they're much more expensive but this seems like a pretty good substitute.

I used to have an old Sovtek 30w combo, and that thing was crazy loud. Now that I play at bedroom levels this preamp might be a nice option to add some grit to my base tone. Question- what’s that guitar you’re playing in the first clip? Looks killer. Also, the demos I’m seeing of the Boxcutter are awesome, can’t wait to get my hands on one. Thanks!

This would be a solid option for those bedroom levels for sure . That guitar is actually a Collaboration I’ve been working on with Grzenia Guitars . More information on that will be up next month . Those will be limited to 8 guitars . 4 baritones will be available as well . So glad you are liking the box cutter I had a great time with Mike coming up with that . I think we have 7 more left in his store . After those are sold they will be no more .

This or Mother Preamp? I have a modded "MetalZone" that sounds very good (also as a boost) and and some pedals like the Warp Drive by Stone Deaf FX, I'm not much into "clean distortion, super tight stuff" but as a brazilian, I like some chugs like Sepultura, those old school 90s Death Metal like Immolation, Autopsy and even low distortion stuff like the tone on DeathSpell Omega "Paracletus" and stuff like that you played here on this video. Thanks

It really depends on what tone you’re going for . Both pedals are very different .

Well they did reissue the mig 50 awhile back . Pretty sure they are still selling them .

My problem with pre amps is the whole ‘different speakers’ thing. My experience (which isn’t massive admittedly) is that amps sound different with different cabs and speakers. It’s just too much for my brain.

As an owner of mig50 I gotta say it sounds nothing like an actual amp. maybe more like a mig100 or mig60 which are more dirty and marshall-style. mig50 is a super clean amp with a crazy amount of headroom. am I missing something here?

I had a 50, I had to dump a lot $ into it. Avoid the old ones.

I’ve heard that as well . Those old ones were made with some of the worst/ cheapest parts .
