John's compassion with every one of his callers is astounding. His ability to reach out to every single caller and make them feel like they're the only person that matters is such a blessing. Can't tell you how many times I've sat and listened to him reach out with love to every single person and get choked up. Every time. God bless you John Delony. Don't ever stop what you're doing. This hurting world needs you.

Wow! So wondering how this first caller is doing with his avoidance, lying and infidelity ~ feel for his wife and kids 😢. Love to hear his wife's side of the story. It's a nightmare living with this. Glad he wants to live better and do better. But is that a lie too--ugh! ?

I’m a student who just started clinical psychology. My practicum site is at the VA and it’s honestly a nice prison. The way they treat our veterans is horrible. Not to mention… they are having students (me!) who know little to nothing about therapy TREAT veterans who are homeless, have addictions, PTSD, have been incarcerated, and have a whole bunch of other issues. INSANE!

Hanging out with this guy is such an awesome thing John D. I am super proud of you extending yourself to help out a fellow military. The VA is severely dropping the ball. They need to do better. Thank you both for your service.

Every time Dr John commented on how the V.A. has been failing this guy I almost lost it. I agree, we pay the taxes that fund these programs and people are lost every day because they are not getting the help they need.

People can change..... like picking your sox up off the family room floor, most times people will faulter and end up repeating ever bad behaviors until you get told you are slacking again. Imagine being with someone that the repeating slacking behavior is lieing and cheating.....🤔 people...... leave the relationship if the bad behaviors are not harmless.

To the guy who has a bad habit of lying to his wife: I have a similar trauma in my past and had developed a habit of...fudging the truth. Not lying but definitely not the full truth. I realized it was happening and I was able to correct it. Some might say I've over corrected though. At this point in my life, I don't really have very much off limits for the public knowledge. I don't talk details of my marriage's sex life, and I'm aware that talking toilet details are obviously unnecessary! To my husband, I told him my tendencies, though it's not been a big issue. And if I realize I've been been lying, I immediately corrected myself. Which at first frequently happened in disagreements, because I wanted to "win". After learning I could trust him completely through time, I now have no problem saying everything to him! And it's not about winning anymore. So you can do it, it completely doable, to give up concealing things.

When I took the intense suicide prevention training, it was based on a curriculum that insisted that you "ask the 'dam' question", and that's precisely what John did in this interaction w/ a veteran. I think we all need to ask the dam question more often!

I almost died 4 months after my oldest son was born, a year and a half into our marriage, at 21 years old, due to a stroke from an AVM. Thankfully it was then a year of numerous invasive procedures and craniotomy’s followed by a few years of rehab. I will say about the friend with cancer, please ask. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to handle any jokes or goofy comments, especially during the first year of procedures when my future was entirely uncertain. It still bothers me 20 years later. Our mortality is a different experience for us all.

Michael sounds a bit like my ex. In our case, I was putting up with the porn, texting women, Instagram "models"and the multiple female friends that were too familiar with him (even thou he used to say there can't be friendship between opposite sex) I would say how I felt and most of the times he would just say "she's like that, can't help it" or "there's nothing I can do about that" or he would be more careful so that I wouldn't find out (receiving pics from other women). I put up with this because of our 2 boys (one with multiple disabilities), but I keep finding more n more of these activities from his part, and something broke in me. He said he was a good dad n a good husband, but I busted his bubble. Now we r just a broken home. 😢 Hope Michael n his family can pull it off.

@blueseptember2174 He's helping with the boys and seems sorry for his behavior, but our relationship is unfixable. I hope any couple that faces any kind of trouble could find good counseling. My resentment also added to our problems. If I had sought a mental health professional or a counselor, we may still be together.

@aries3744 sounds like you are doing the best you can. I'm glad he's being helpful a bit. Please don't think that of you could've got counseling it would have saved it. You did all you could. It was his problem to fix dear. Only he had that ability with his personal lust addiction(hopefully one day he will get help). I'm sending you a big hug.
