Today we're doing a quick fun vlog sharing us using the Hustler Super Z Hyperdrive while mowing grass and finishing up our Wednesday route! You guys saw the drop off videos from Emileo for the Hustler units, but now we actually get to put them to the test.
I will say this, after using the mower for the better part of 3 weeks now, the #1 word I can use to describe it is SMOOTH. It's so buttery smooth on the hydros, the cut quality and the ride, I think they did a solid job on the mower
Although it cuts as good as anything I've used, no mower is without sin! There was a couple things I wish the mower had / didn't do, and we cover that as well. Overall, dang, this has been a fun mower to use and demo! Much much more to come!

The "Creeping" issue is not an issue because you cant get off of a Hustler Mower without engaging the Parking brake because the parking brake is engaged when you open the steering sticks all the way. So the "creeping" issue is irrelevant. I have owned 9 Hustlers over the years and I have a 2016 Hyperdrive 60" w/Vanguard 37hp efi and I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has about the mower. Also if you try to disengage the parking brake (by bringing the steering sticks into the drive position) and you're not sitting in the seat.. the mower will kill the motor as soon as the parking brake in disengaged so your hypothetical situation of getting off the mower while it's running and the mower "creeping" into a tree, etc.. is IMPOSSIBLE. Hustler's engineering is unparalleled and always has been top notch and they thought of everything in regards to safety with this and the rest of their mowers.

I’ve run Hustler since day one and love their mowers. I’ve run them over rough properties and smooth properties and they don’t miss a beat. They are built like tanks! I feel like these videos are really helping get their name out there a little more.

slipper piston seems to be some internal hustler jargon, these pumps are the same axial piston design as any other zero turn, they just displace a ton more fluid; wouldn't surprise me if these are 21cc pumps with 7 piston cylinder blocks EDIT: just looked it up, they use 9 piston danfoss 20cc axial piston pumps, which is essentially your standard hydro-gear bdu-10a on steroids they then use regular Parker TG280 28cc geroler wheel motors seems like a neat design, should have plenty of torque (590ftlbs continuous in this case) to move a machine that weighs 1600lbs

Love my super z hd! I went from the radius to the hustler, what a difference. Obviously not in the same league and price, but man I love the hustler. Very productive especially in bigger properties, but still great in smaller residential homes. I got mine used for a great price, I can only imagine how it performs with the vanguard.

I'd like to see the stripes on something that hasn't been stripped all year. Any mower could stripe like that after stripes have been established. He seemed to be bouncing around a lot on that seat as well.

The creep can be adjusted where there is no creep. And when your stopped talking to someone or on your phone you put your controls out.. to lock the parking brakes

Yea every mower I’ve been on has creeped with the handles in it like putting a car in gear and letting off the brakes.

Well with that said when you put the handles back to park it will not creep you have to put them back out to get off the mower so you would not creep unless your on a hill.

Brian, you can't get off of the mower with the lap bars in. And when you push them out, it applies the parking brake. This would eliminate the potential for creeping. I demoed one and I love it.

I run Huslers. If you get off any mower you should have the brake set so it won’t creep or roll, however you can make easy adjustments to the steering control rods. 😁. Love the high speed footage at the end!

Brian, you mentioned mower creep. It cannot creep if the arms are placed correctly in the park/break position. Right?

Yes the price is up there but you make up for it in production of the machine. When I got my first excell hustler one property I had took 1hr 15 min to cut( exmark72”) and when I first cut that same hard I was finished in50 minutes (sooooold). High production mowers pay for themselves fast. The reason I switched to excell was the local dealer gave me $3000.00 off. That was in 1997 the machine was $15,000 to 12,000 money maker all day long. Hustler mowers are built heavy duty. I finally retired that machine at well over 10,000hrs and I miss that machine every time I think of it.

I jus bought 1 of them an a 52” SS hustler, jus hit 40 hrs. I love them compared to my EX Marks. The 60” hustler bagging unit is really nice.

Love my Hyoerdrive. Will cut thru anything. Super smooth steering. If you look at how much better built just looking at it up close. Can't beat the speed either.

Nice vid Brian! I'm testing the new 38.5hp EFI model in the next couple of months when it comes in, I can't wait!! I've been running a couple Hustlers for a bit now to test and review them for the Australian distributor, and whilst as you say they don't have some of the nice extra features like charger ports, extra cup holders, fancy electronic displays etc, they were designed and built as a mower first and foremost. They build them super strong to cut grass and not have extra stuff that's gonna break, so I suppose its a bit of a double edged sword. If you're a large contractor or council/government operator they're awesome but if you want a nice feature-filled machine for your own property it might not be the way to go. Either way they're certainly extremely durable machines. These come in at around $27k here in Australia so I don't wanna see anyone complaining about your $17k lol, but the speed and productivity makes it worthwhile.

The hustlers can’t creep if your not on the mower since the arms are out and brakes on. So it can’t roll into a tree by itself. I just started this season and got a hustler fastrak. So far so good. I love it. Just put on x blades and it stripes great. Dealer support is awesome too.

I have always ran Hustler! The Biggest problem i have had is the braking system doesn't last and i haven't had any luck with adjusting or rebuilding the brake system. The newer models with fuel gauges the gauges don't last mine work intermittingly at 500hrs on mower. Cut quality is good, speed is great, durability of over all unit is great.

Love your videos man! I got a hustler super z this summer and started growing my business. I’m 19 and have around 15 yards. I have the 60 inch deck so in some places I can’t fit into gates. What would you suggest for me? Thanks!

You must have some money if you got a super z already. But if you need a smaller unit and have the cash or finance. Go with a 36 inch zero turn stander (like a Wright) or 42 inch zero if you don't like standing. That should fit in your gates.

17 grand? No way, not with that Vanguard. I can get a 325d with a Kubota diesel for 15 G's. A 400D with a 1.3 liter Kubota for about the same...

Been enjoying watching your channel for a while now. Looking for a little bit of advice I am currently running 2 residential machines a 42 in Troy-Bilt and a 46 in Poulan. I am upgrading to my first commercial machine next season mainly looking at Gravely because that's the dealer that I have local. I was looking at the pro stance machines, was not sure if I should start out with the 36 or the 48? All my properties are residential below 3/4 of an acre. Any advice from the community would be great.

My fastrak doesn’t creep at all. Only if you leave the arms forward because they don’t go into neutral on their own. Sometimes neutral is hard to find though. 16 mph is crazy for a mower. Geez.

Loved the review. I have this mower in a 2013/2014 version, and I love it! I have the Kawasaki FX 1000V carbureted engine; wish I had the Vanguard 31 or 37 big block EFI!!!! The mower creeps only when you put the handles together (drive mode), it’s not supposed to creep when your handles are in the out position where your emergency brake is engaged. So if you’re stepping away from it; I would assume the operator will disengage PTO and put handles out.

Just took my Ferris ISX 3300 back. Lousy cut in anything over 5 inches of grass and has a severe dipping problem on the deck. Rep says I have to tighten shocks to highest settings. I wonder if others are same issue.

After a few years in business, I am finally upgrading from a Hustler 54 to a 60 inch. Bigger and ballsier. I have it narrowed down to a Gravely Mach 1 with the XF3 deck and 31hp Kaw or a Hustler Super Z with the VX4 deck and 35 hp FX1000 engine (non EFI). The Super Z is standard Super Z and not the Hyperdrive model. Exmark priced me out of competition unfortunately and only had the 27hp engine on their 60" model. I pretty much only trust Brian and the mowers who comment on Brian's page, so thought I'd leave a comment in case anyone has experience with either of these machines. I've seen a lot of past complaints about the Super Z leaving stragglers and clumps and having to do 2 mows to get a nice clean cut out of the VX4 decks, but those were all fairly old forums. Haven't seen anyone mention that with Gravely but it's also...Gravely. They have such mixed reviews, I'm hesitant to go Gravely. Here in KS, we deal with wet, thick, short, high, dry, thin bladed/thick bladed lawns. A mixture of everything and was hoping to find a machine that handles well both tough lawns and maintained lawns.

Hi Brian I like the vid Have the Hyderdrive with Vanguard. Have you experienced an issue with the deck belt idler rattling. It’s a plastic slider system with a lot of slop built in. Also starter struggles on cold starts. Otherwise nice cut and fast. Thanks Gerry in Michigan

Hi my name is Matthew I’m 16. I’m looking into buying new mower I was just interesting in what is out there for a stand on or sit down for a good price. I’m also wondering what’s the best way to get the most money out of a new mower. I was thinking about with go wright stander B 32 to 36 inch but is there any other ones that I should look around for that $6000-$7000 range.

Mine is 2018 2nd full season and two sets of coils and two oil coolers. I believe that the oil cooler fail due to power washing noticed that after washing. Using a 3600 psi power washer with light tip. 😕 other than that the mower has performed well. 52" stander super s pretty good and trim star as well. Dealer support of my local dealer has been terrible though. Be sure to check the dealer out ahead of time ask mechanic s questions example how long they have been employed by the place and if they offer loaner mower in evnt of breakdowns make sure that if a free loaner is offered on a breakdowns that the term s are in written in the sales contract of the equipment you purchase from that dealer outlining the duration of the loaner mower that is offered. Example term of the warranty or what amount of time from point of sale is being made of the loaner.

Are the hydros real sensitive? Meaning if you barely touch the levers do you get a response. I'm new to zero turns and the toro I tried is very sensitive. Hard for me to mow straight?

We got 3 hustlers at work the e brake sucks on them they roll all the time and in long green grass they don't cut well you need to try a John deer efi there nice its my choice I use at work. Hustlers r fast but does not cut nice

This mower must have the steering levers in their locked position before the operator can leave the machine (safety switch). The parking brake is immediately engaged when the steering levers are in their docking position. There is no creep with the Hustler HyperDrive mowers, never has been and never will be. This was pointed out due to Brian not understanding the function of the machine.

love your videos, hustler does stripe well but unfortunately all 3 of mine, 52 raptor limited, 54 fastrak and 6o inch super z hyperdrive are all bad and break down too much, dealer support sucks in my area, excel company support is a joke too, I'm switching in spring to either ferris or scag. no toro or exmark dealers near me.

Come on Brian, “the creep” occurs when you don’t or didn’t engage the brakes? This requires the operator to push both steering arms out. Money is no option, Hustle is definitely a top brand! I work high end accounts here in the Washington DC suburbs, both commercial & residential and there an over built commercial units! All the best to you n your crew!

Not a big fan of the Vanguard on the HD 60". I had one and quickly sold it. I'll stick to the 2 kawasaki carbs never have issues.

Hustler zero . You can't leave the seat without pushing the arms out . You just not use to them. Trust me, their system is the best on hill. You don't need to look for brakes. Brakes are built into the arms . Their the best zero out there. Exmark just had a better seat. Just sell me that one , I'll take it off your hands

You can't get off and leave the motor running without setting the steering bars out and that sets the parking brake the motor will die without doing that. And you can adjust the steering to get the drift out.

I'm very confused about your comment about it creeping. As soon as you move the handles out to get off the machine it engages the parking brake. Or am I missing something?!?!

Have used a 72 hustler also a hyperactive for multiple years, has a wiring issue all the time with it where it gets loose pins have replaced the harness and module a couple times very costly. Its a heavy mower compared to others and is not ideal in alot of situations. All in all I wouldn't buy one for what they are worth.

@@BriansLawnMaintenance I have, they are actually very nice mowers. Have to be a bit more cautious turning but a very smooth ride. The 766 (66” cut) has the 37hp vanguard. Plenty of power! Also has a low and high range.

Lmfo .. I was like ok here's the dislikes.... then "No charging port for CELL PHONE" and "Has a slight creep". It was on a paved surface & barely moved. The brakes are supposed to be engaged once you get off any way.

I know this video is 2 and a half years old, but if a brand new mower is slowly moving away like what you showed at 3mins then there is something seriously wrong with QA that needs to be addressed ASAP and hopefully they have solved it by now.
