I had never heard of Grandma’s Marathon until I stumbled across Matt’s video of his experience. I’m putting on my shoes right now to go run Grandma’s. His content is positive and entertaining, and he’s getting the word out on some great experiences to be had. I like that he does so many events, he made me realize I can do a lot more races and just enjoy them, versus only doing one a year and putting everything on that one day.

You both have been big parts in my content as well and the confidence in posting either running advice or influenced content. Knowing criticism is to follow but just putting yourself out there and open for that criticism is to not only not care what other people think as far as the negative portion, but know that between all the rubbish and negative, there are people out there who are taking your advice serious and are interested in the life you have to show. I just know that I am reaching someone out there.

Nothing wrong with matt Choi specifically, seems like a great dude. but I do find it off putting when anyone self identifies as a “content creator.” To me, that sounds like someone has stopped along the way of finding an actual contribution to bring to a community, in order to focus on likes/vanity metrics

Do I personally feel like I’m Matt’s intended audience? No. I’m a XCTF athlete that’s been competing for 11 years, has engineering degrees, and has worked in retail for years. He caters more to an audience that picked up running later from another sport. Which is literally what he did. And I don’t have a problem with that
@matthiassventoest680011 ай бұрын
thank you.., me coming from another sport, and literally running my first half marathon in lacrosse shorts, I definitely got side-eyed by the ‘serious runners’ I’m like.. oh well I’m here
@respect386 Жыл бұрын
I personally worry about the lessons a viewer learns from watching Matt’s content. Like running 6 marathons in 6 months with an average weekly mileage of between 30-50 miles is kinda dangerous imo. Also most runners shouldn’t run more than 2 marathons a year realistically. Also I wish he’d put information in descriptions because a lot of his viewers comment asking for clarity. Matt’s enthusiasm is awesome but the information he’s communicating isn’t clear to the viewer and can be setting a bad precedent imo.

This is exactly the kind of thing we were talking about. This is my channel and I cherish the sense of community we’re building here, but there are many IRL running spaces where Matt and I are both considered prats. I relate immensely to Matt and how he is treated
@pete801 Жыл бұрын
@@kofuzi I have to disagree. KZfaq channels are education and entertainment. Reviews serve as education and allow us to make educated choices as to what equipment/ sporting apparel could benefit our running. Your friend Matt has so far benefitted the running community by telling us all t-shirts cause serious chafing to his nips. Idea: maybe he could educate us on some good lube. But this would cut his audience, because let's be honest... His audience tunes in to watch a good looking fella run around with his top off. It's not a running channel and it's not the same viewers
