Grandma's Marathon is a marathoner's marathon. A scenic location, net downhill, and high probability of great racing weather. People go to Grandma's to run fast, so it was a perfect place to take one more attempt at chasing a sub 3 marathon.
Note: Based on a clock at the 20 mile marker, I believed that we had come through at 2hours and 20 minutes. Due to a typo, I incorrectly labelled this as 2hr2min. I thought I had 40 minutes left to cover 10k.
Note 2: the course clock was off by about 5 minutes for some reason. Ben told me that we had more like 44 minutes to cover the last 10k.
Thank you to Ben Johnson for agreeing to pace me for this race. There were so many times where this run could have fallen apart, but he really held it all together. This day would have turned out completely different without Ben.

A huge congratulations on your big achievement! Sub 3 is great! However, when, at 5:20 in the video, it states you reached 20 miles in 2hr2min and you need to run the last 10k in under 40 minutes some number must be wrong. At 20 miles you only have 10k left and 58 minutes to go. Or have I miscalculated something?
@lukaslowingsvensson9500
@lukaslowingsvensson9500 2 жыл бұрын
Is it supposed to be 2hr20min perhaps and you finished the last 10k in 39 minutes? That's really impressive if that's the case.
@kofuzi
@kofuzi 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. See note in description. I saw 2:20 on the clock, and I thought I had 40 minutes left. But in actuality, I had 44 or 45 minutes remaining
