So her kid goes to school with all of the not famous kids and gets to tell them all about her average Christmas just like theirs. Sounds fine to me.

Absolutely, I love this about her. Every kid can look around and see things they think are cool but would play with once and then get bored and onto the next thing. Taking pride in things and not constantly having to have the next thing is not bad. My kids get gifts for sure. But they don’t need or want massive amounts of things. It’s overwhelming and you can’t properly play with everything all at once. Instead of giving them 20 gifts at Christmas they each get around 3 from us (one thing they really want, a book and either a side gift or something educational or something we can do together) and they get things from other family members as well so in the end it can become way too much if everyone gives them a big pile of stuff. Instead I spread it out throughout the year, if their birthday is in November and then there’s Christmas then they just don’t get anything the other 10 months? When I for sure don’t treat myself that way? They end up getting things either when they have a new interest and ask for it or around once a month or every other month. Not huge things, we still make birthdays and Christmas special, but as an adult I save up and buy myself things I want/need even if there’s no event coming up.

One present??? Literally over half the dirt floor poor kids in America get more thanks to help from organizations. That kid is gonna look back and be like my parents just kept their money and didn’t care. The money went up their noses and towards making mommy look great at 40

They get stuff throughout the year and they certainly get to do any extra curricular activity they like, Im sure they have a college fund, get the best health care, etc. you need to grow up.

You do realize that Shaq is joking in here right? He has said in several interviews that while he is extremely rich and succesfull he isnt giving his kids any handouts. He has 6 children and he made them all go to college like everyone else and get 2 degrees and he has taught them from a young age about businesses, how they are ran, how to invest and use your money in a smart way.

I have 14 cousins, 5 aunts and uncles. When we were kids, the rule for Christmas was that we got presents from our own parents, and we (the family of two kids) also got presents from the aunt&uncle who had no kids. Which I was TOTALLY fine with; my grandmother lived with us and she got presents from all of them, and it was SO tedious waiting for her to open her gifts. On birthdays we got presents from all the adults, so that was sufficient, too. Although there was a bit of miscommunication with our schoolmates; they weren't allowed to bring presents to our birthdays, so somehow they thought we couldn't /give/ presents and stopped inviting us. That pissed me off.

Not spoiling your children is a good thing. I understand giving them what you didn't get, but they also need to understand this shit ain't free and it's all material and transient. Friendships, being a good person and personal relationships are forever. (As are enemies).

I buy things for my children all the time. Specific holidays aren't as big a deal for them when it comes to gifts. Yes, they have plenty under the tree, but they grew up having a lot of what they wanted throughout the year and found joy in other things during holidays, such as the decorations.

as a middle class person, i also only get one gift on my birthday and one gift on christmas. i have a lot of siblings but it’s okay. we all get one present on the holidays that have them. she is totally okay for doing that. just cause she can afford lots of gifts doesn’t mean she should give it to them

While giving your children everything they want seems nice because it makes them happy, giving them only a few presents teaches them that you dont always get everything you want in life and you have to work for it. Thats why its good to give pocket money/ Allowance so they can work for it and save for other things.

Love Mila Kunis. She is a Fairfax HS kid to the fullest ! Great cross-section , rich kids, poor kids, right in between Beverly Hills and the slum alleyways of Melrose. Hollywood to the North , Inglewood to south. GO FAIRFAX KIDS !!!
