This video investigates the effectiveness of the Epic Pure Water Filter Pitcher in removing contaminants from tap water. The video highlights that the test used treated groundwater and results may vary depending on location.
An independent lab analyzed pre-filtration and post-filtration water samples. The unfiltered water contained fluoride and uranium exceeding recommended Health Guideline Levels (HGLs).
The Epic Pure filter successfully removed uranium and reduced fluoride by 27%, bringing it down to the recommended HGL. The filter also eliminated chlorine, copper, and phosphorus.
While the filter increased levels of some substances like sulfate, none exceeded the HGLs.

Hi, thank you for your reviews, great job! instant subscriber! what about Epic Nano? Is it better? And which one of all these pitchers is the best in terms of better overall water cleanliness? Can’t decide which one to choose between Epic Nano and ClearlyFiltered pitchers. Or if there is something even better then them two? I also heard that SimPure Y7P-BW UV Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Purification System is pretty good. So many options, the question is which one is best? Please advise

We've not yet tested the Epic Nano - so can't say as of now. In our testing, ZeroWater and Clearly Filtered performed the best in terms of overall contaminant reduction, but each had a slight issue as well. Hi. I just found this video, thank you. I have Chloramines and fluoride in my water in addition to probably a lot I’m not aware of. I’ve been using clearly filtered pitcher for a year but am looking for a pitcher filter that’s better. Do you think Epic filters out more? I’m not sure about chlorine/ammonia/chloramines. Thank you!

Clearly Filtered provided better overall contaminant reduction in our own testing (check out that video here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gc9jZtCTppjOgIE.html ), including 100% reduction of fluoride compared to the 27% the Epic Pure provided

Hi ! Love this type of videos. In my country (France) they just announced that PFAS was a huge concern because of the toxicity and the fact that they are erverywhere now. I was wondering if in your future pitchers testing you could actually show how much the PFAS removal is accurate ! Thanks for the content, I’ll now try to drink only filtered water from a good pitcher.

@@waterfilterguru that would be great, I was also looking for videos showing how effective are those filters in removing pfas. I just find out that here in Australia pfas is present in tap water in much higher amount than in USA or European Union.

how many gallons do the filters last? and could you do a test towards the end of filter life?

Up to 150 gallons, one of the highest capacities I've seen. Keep in mind that is directly influenced by the quality of the water being filtered. I would love to see all filters tested toward the end of their life. I wish there was a way to tell when a filter has reached the end of its life besides keeping up with how many gallons it has filtered. Like you say, filter life depends on the quality of the water to begin with.

Did you do multiple samples? Or just 1 ? I assume there would be a lot of dispersion between sample results

One test, under real-life conditions. No contaminants were added for testing purposes. You care correct that we could assume slight variations in results accross multiple tests. Ideally we'd have 10+ tests before reporting the data, unfortunately that is cost prohibitive at this point

Did you also check for microplastics? It seems like microplastics and forever chemicals are the top-of-mind things to be removed for many consumers today. Also, thank you for the data-driven approach! It gives you a ton of credibility. I really appreciate your content!

Unfortunately the Tap Score Advanced City Water Test we used for this project does not include microplastics or PFAs, and testing for both of these types of contaminants is currently super expensive. I want to add both of these to all our testing projects, and as soon as the tests are feasible I'll be doing so!

It's good to note that all our real life tests are just that, single isolated tests of a water filter's performance. While we have detected some contaminants at increased levels in a number of our tests, we'd need more thorough testing to be able to draw definitive conclusions as to where these increased detections are really coming from. That said, have you considered a countertop reverse osmosis system? These provide the most broad contaminant reduction. The Aquatru geni.us/chlQv5o performed really well in my real life testing, and no contaminants were detected at increased levels post-filtration.

Please keep in mind, as is mentioned in the video, this was just one test. Results may vary in a follow-up test or under different conditions. That said, I agree I was disappointed to see such a much lower reduction rate than what is claimed

@@joeanderson1307 PFAs were not included in the test we used - testing for PFAs requires specialized analysis. Perhaps we'll test for PFAs specifically in the future

Please do the Elite Brita filter and then the countertop 40$ Waterdrop electric water filter pitcher. It has a different filter than the standard pitcher and is suppose to perform better. Thanks!

You might like Clearly Filtered or ZeroWater better in that case. Those two completely eliminated fluoride in our testing
