Dog Breed Video: Entlebucher Mountain Dog

This is a video about the dog breed Entlebucher Mountain Dog, from the www.naturallyhappydogs.com website.
Robyn has been Secretary of the Entlebucher Breed Society since 2009. She tells us about the history of the breed, their personalities and what they are like to look after.
She also tells us that Entlebuchers are a herding dog who form a close relationship with their owner but can make good family dogs. From this video we can well believe that these dogs can feel at ease in a family situation.

I have an Entlebucher named Ginny that I rescued in 2014. Poor girl was abused and abandoned with her puppies. She is the love of my life, this breed has my heart for sure now!! (PS I get the beagle thing ALL THE TIME 😂)

Would they make good apartment guard dogs? I walk my dog twice a day and just need a dog that barks more than the husky/shepherd mix I have now. I also believe in daily activity. My neighbors are so used to me walking her that when I have the dog walker do it, they text me to make sure we're both okay...and there's not foul play. LOL

Bryan Edney in my opinion I’d say yes! I just moved into an apartment with my Entlebucher and she is a barker...when she hears a strange noise, if someone’s at the door, she goes crazy. She’s harmless but has a very mean bark. It does the trick for sure I’d say

I got my girl as a rescue at the start of the year, the vet assistant mentioned she may have some mountain dog in her but the pound said she was a beagle. I definitely believe she’s a Entlebucher, now I need to have a dna test done lol. Thanks for the video!

A Beagle looks completely different than a Entlebucher.

Great video! I am about to get a entlebucher, may I ask how you can see if they will grow to be stocky or more athletic besides looking at the mother/father dog? Do they already show their future body form as a pup? Thank you for your help!

My daughter just rescued an Entlebucher and she is so well behaved and smart. Do all Entlebuchers have the white tip on the tail? I have a friend who adopted a dog and she looks like ours but without the white tip tail.

The leaner variety of this breed would be a great cross with a tricolor Border Collie. Some BCs have shorter smoother hair but many have scruffy long hair that will shed all over the house. It might not be quite this simple but my guess is that the bulkier variety were the cart pullers and the agile variety were doing more of the herding work.

Is this in the same swizzy family. Identical markings and colors as my swizzy they just look smaller.

My pal has one of these. I was there while he tried to train him. And he wouldn’t pay attention to ANYTHING. Nor could he seem to retain any information. Maybe my friend just got lucky with his particular dog. But now, he’s completely out of control. He listens. But like a fish, forgets immediately what he was supposed to be doing. And he’s constantly - CONSTANTLY - dying for attention and pets. Very friendly overall, but will.not.stop. pushing your arm with his snout until he is being scratched. And god forbid you stop… It’s kinda funny, but that’s because I get to leave.

It's almost like they're a "too pretty" Pit Bull Terrier with a security guard dog built right in.

Eger Of this,, I am aware. There are four tricolor mountain breeds that are closely related , in order of descending size, they are, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, " Berner " - the the most decorative,least heathy, shortest lived, least protective and least useful IMHO, the coolest, most perfect one, I think, is the Appenzeller Sennenhund - they say it cannot be bribed - and the Entlebucher. All of them seem to be a pretty boy pitbull with a personal bodyguard/protector built right in. Except the Berner. They'll tell you somebody's coming but like a pitbull, they'll welcome them in the house with licks and tail wags.

lol i find it funny that this woman isnt intelligent enough to correct people telling her its a beagle. no its not a beagle, its a pure bred swiss mountain dog. and then tell them beagles arent the only dog breed with a tricolor coat.

Well, i have an Entlebucher and hear that a lot too...at the beginning i corrected them, now its just annoying hearing this stuff and i stay quit too
