People throwing shade at her for not keeping him really, REALLY don't seem to understand the significance of what she's doing. If she kept adopting all the dogs she's rehabilitating, so many other dogs would be put to sleep and suffer. It absolutely sucks having to say goodbye, but in the end it's for the ultimate good of these beautiful animals to have a second chance. People like this woman are true God sends.

I think foster carers are among the most underrated people around. Building up a relationship with an animal, knowing that you'll have to give them away sooner or later, that must be really difficult emotionally. At the same time knowing it's best for the animal. Huge respect to all foster carers! 🙏❤😍

It's so true, I have fostered so many pets, dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, and it's exhausting but very gratifying when people literally fight over who gets them. And I'm a detective and have a contract to make sure the pet goes to very good home. I do my homework for the animals. And again, yes it hurts to let go but it's gratifying as I make room for the next one.

I have a rescued dachshund that looked awful when I got her. She was horrifically abused by her previous owner. She was so emaciated you could see every bone in her spine, every rib, it was awful. She was also nearly bald. All her hair had just fallen out. She was so afraid she couldn't even be walked and she would run, peeing on herself everywhere, if you ever tried to pick her up. She attached to one of my other dogs though, a sweet boy named Jack, and while he doesn't really seem to give her much thought one way or the other, she is just obsessed with him. She follows him everywhere, snuggles up to him to sleep, and so on. Thats how we were finally able to start walking her, by taking Jack with her so he could lead her around. It's been 2 years now and she has put on some weight, though despite being a healthy weight now you can still see her spine very vividly though you can't see her ribs anymore. A lot of her hair has grown back as well, but she still has bald patches. She still runs away and won't let us pick her up, so we have to corner her to pick her up to do things like take her to the vet, but she has gotten used to us and will sleep in the bed with us without any thought now and will follow us around a bit, though keeping a safe distance. Jack also taught her how to play with toys. When we first got her, she didn't seem to have any idea what a toy was, but now she will run through the house squeaking them and rolling upside down in dog beds and all sorts of other playful activities. She's still very nervous and has a long way to go, and she probably won't ever fully recover from her ordeal and be able to fully trust anyone again, but at least she is happy and safe now.

It is very rare for a Great Dane to be able to clear a jump that high. Great danes are very big but dont have a lot of power in their legs (compare them to the legs of a lion or tiger, which are both big and able to jump well) so springing up so high is very unusual.

The greatest act of love is to take a broken dog, like this pup who has been through so much and make them whole again. The natural reaction of pet lovers is to say that the dog is so happy and emotionally improved that putting him through another rehoming is just going to throw his life into confusion again. We all must remember that those who foster dogs are very special and know that it is vital for them to seek out a wonderful forever home that gives the foster pup the continued love and adoration and frees up the foster moms and dads to bless another dog with their knowledge, experience, until that pup is ready to move on freeing up a space for a new dog in great need of a foster family. I can't think of a better system to make the biggest difference!

klynn Harris it's actually a completely natural state to have lone dogs, even in the wild it's common. Same with cats. They're predatory animals by instinct and nature, so being alone isn't unnatural. If you don't teach them to be separate, then that's when separation anxiety develops. Yes, having pairs or trios, or more, is good for the dog and helps with releasing energy through play, it's not necessary at all.

My friend rescued a Great Dane out of the Desert and he was Albino. Took her hours to catch him. When you let him outside and then back inside you had to prepare the house. You had to remove all breakable objects from a certain path because when he came in he was like a freight train out of control. Once he did his zoomie rounds in the house he would flop down and rest. The dog was an amazing loveable creature and we can't imagine why someone would have dumped him out in the desert. That's the worse fate you can give an Albino dog.

Foster homes are like hospitals for an animal's spirit, and I'm always happy when they become well-enough to leave. Foster homes are few and far between, but there are a lot of great forever homes out there. I'm no expert on fostering, but I'm willing to bet that the bigger the dog is, the harder it is to find a place that's able to take them in. She had several giants, so the spot he had would be very hard to replace with a different foster home.

We now have Cookie (dane as well) who grew up while Luna was still around and recently we rescued Astro who is learning everything from cookie that Luna taught her. Danes are like potato chips, you can’t just have one. There is also a very good reason as to why they are called the heartbreak breed 🥲 Rest in peace Luna 💕
