That poodle had no sense of self preservation. It didn’t flinch, try to hide, bark, or anything. Luckily the glass was there. I fear the poodle might display the same behavior even if it wasn’t.

I have a tuxedo cat and she's one of the smartest cats I've ever owned. She was five or six when I adopted her. In one week she had every door in my house memorized. When I'm on this side of the door, I push it with my paw to open it. When I'm on the other side, I stick my paw under the crack and pull it towards me to open it. Her intelligence makes her quite a handful at times. I've had to call the vet for advice. I ashamed to admit it, but I've been outwitted by a domestic shorthair. 😅

I wouldn't be surprised if the doggo looking at the mountain lion happened in the Oakland hills in CA. There's mountain lions that wander through rarely, but they're usually shy and normally avoid most people (unless they're inexperienced juveniles). Coyotes are actually what people have to watch out for more than mountain lions - packs have been known to be aggressive, especially if people accidentally wander near their dens or if people don't keep a close eye on their pets... 0_0

No dude. Fatal coyote attacks are extremely rare, and the last one happened in Nova Scotia, which is a long way from the Oakland Hills. Don't mess with cougars.

@@aluisious That is true, and I'll admit that was my bad! ^^; They are rare as well as mountain lion attacks. Even so, I've heard many people in the area just express caution for either of them anyways (but that goes for any kind of wild animal encounter during a nature hike). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
