Ukuo's backstory is also really sad because he was a cop who genuinely wanted to make the world a better place, but got traumatized into cynicism after he shot a guy who lost all the hope in his life that his only option was suicide by cop. But his following words are the most heart-wrenching part. _"So, is this the kind of life you had to live? You were only 18, not much younger than me. You didn't have anyone around you, nobody even cared enough to show up to your funeral, not even your own father. The only one who showed up..._ _... is the man who shot you."_ This manga, man... it emotionally bites your junk off at the most unexpected times.

dog ningen's habit of not taking itself too seriously really makes the serious moments of the manga hit different. DH is extremely talented at storytelling and serbian's art seems to be improving immensely as well

Curious as to what people think of the Baltimore/Tournament arc since people don’t talk about it much Personally I think the arc so far is alright I think the biggest problem with it is the setting of the tournament and the new characters not being nearly as good as the older ones. The arc is at its best when it further establishes the previous characters and the aftermath of the School Shooting arc especially with Beau and Ukuo. The art seems to be noticeably dipping in quality too in terms of consistency once we go to the actual tournament outside of certain chapters and I feel like there could’ve been less dialogue going on at least for the introduction for some of these new characters Overall, I still think this series is good but the Tournament arc doesn’t hook me as much as the Neo or School Shooter arc especially in the middle of the arc where it’s just fights with characters I don’t really have an attachment or interest to
