The trust this dog had with at the time a stranger, how he just sat on the kayak and knew he was safe, that was bittersweet. He is such a happy sweetheart and a tremendous thank you to all of those involved. Angels.

This is a delightful story - our family has found all our furry additions this way, except not out on the ocean kayaking - I so admire this young man's commitment to his immediate connection to Winston, and vice versa. Thank you for such a loving story.

What a wonderful man to rescue this abandoned and starving dog from an island! And then take him to the vet and actually arrange foster care for a few months and then pay to fly him to his home! Unbelievable and absolutely awesome man and story! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

He spend his last 36 hours in vacation with him. He made sure not to leave him alone again he had to hire somebody for the weekend , and felt sorry for the poor dog for bringing him from sunny beaches and sand to snow allover.... God bless him and may God bless America.

OMG! To think, if he did not come along in his Kayak, that beautiful little pup would have died out there alone. So sad. But it is so great that he was rescued, cared for and got a better life. Btw don’t feed starving dogs a lot of food because it can kill them! Only feed them little per day so then they can get used to eating

Amazing how Winston on the island still looks happy and still has energy, and seems to not even realize how serious his predicament is! That's a dog with an incredibly positive attitude!

Psychologists estimate they have the mentality of a 2 - 3 year old human which would indicate Winston does not grasp the concept of mortality. They are all about eat, sleep, and socialize (love).

This is how I found my beautiful Irish Wolfhound mix. He was starving and following people with children in a shopping center. I knew he was sick because he was coughing, but I knew he was for me, and I took him to the vet for shots and heartworm treatment. I had him for a wonderful 13.5 years. Such a loving, loyal companion!
