"So far behind the time" while showing a study from 2008. This is still a debatable subject and there are so many other studies out there suggests dogs indeed have a pack leader or form a pack around a dominant leader. That does not mean however, they have the exact same pack mentality as the wolves have or an absolute leader concept. As a former trainer, it still amazes me that people still suggest that there's no dominant role in a dog pack especially after observing them.

My two female dogs definitely have toy aggression and we are trying to train them out of it any suggestions on how to help

I have a video on resource guarding you can check out, you basically do the same thing you'd do for a human, though it's much much harder and a much much longer process. Honestly when it comes to resource guarding between dogs management is the easier solution for most people of just not allowing the dogs to ever be in that situation, so separate toys, separate rooms, separate feeding areas, etc.

My guy dogs definitely have a hierarchy and dominance system. Every social animal does in some way, shape or form and to deny that is just ludicrous. Especially when you can observe the behavior of dogs in a dog park or feral street dogs and see clear parallels to the social behavior of wolves. You can call it whatever you want but dominance is absolutely a thing ingrained in dogs and a leader less dog is an unhappy and unbalanced dog.
