A couple of months ago, Hank tried bikejoring for the first time and absolutely loved it. Now he’s back, this time with a derestricted e bike, and has met up again with Bex and Vickie to challenge the dogs and see just how fast they are. Battery power vs dog power: which is the fastest?

I think the biggest disadvantage for hank was that he couldn’t paddle in the corners and the dogs can still pull you. And the ebike only puts the power down when you peddle. Was amazing to see the dogs race

I've paws for thought and let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree. The dogs can still put power out around the bends. On the e-bike you can't really pedal on the bends, and hence lose time. On a straighter course I bet a thorough bred like a GCN presenter could win, paws down. Hank don't let the tail wag the ebike and collar the next race.

It’s a good video ! But if you want to make a great video how about a rematch on the uk’s toughest course for the bikejoring sport ? Doing a proper race on a ex world championship mtb course now bikejor course should even things out !!!

they got not more power but more force than your total torque. a lot of turns and acceleration. I believe you still have more average speed at short distance. impressive dogs!

Dogs can put the power down during the turns, that a bike can't do as well. So as in most racing, it's speed through the turns that wins.

Wow, where can you get the equipment to do that? Specifically a gravel bike attachment. That would be great exercise for my Pyrenean Mountain Dogs.

Google "bike joring", "canicross" and "mushing" and see if there's a vendor near you. You can get the bungee line and the bike attachment online, but the harness for the dog is better to buy from an expert that can make sure the fit is good. In Europe, Non-Stop Dogwear and Zero DC are two of the popular brands.

I'd say call in your colleagues from GMBN, that de-restricted e-bike was proly powerfull, but definitely lacked grip. You're not used to that, but knobby tires could help here a lot :-) On the other hand...I prefer having a dog rather than e-bike, e-bikes tend to be hard and edgy that makes them uncomfortable in the bed...

Eurohounds and Greysters are purpose bred cross bred dogs, using pointers, greyhound and husky to produce a big strong very fast dog that is used for racing on an off snow over a sprint distance, usually around 5-7 k.
