The plaintiff says the defendant has been doing roofing work for her for 14 years, but he messed up the latest job. She claims there’s a leak in her kitchen and the defendant keeps giving her the royal runaround. She had to hire someone else, so she’s suing for what she paid. The defendant says the plaintiff has several roofs and he didn’t work on the one over the kitchen. He claims he explained it to her, but she won’t listen.

Having a bit of knowledge of construction, which JM does (she refers to her father and brothers being in business and that she helped with the accounts, over many many cases over the year), allows the details to be a lot clearer. Asphalt roofs aren't that complex even to a DIY guy like myself. By the way the defendant roofer was deliberately playing dumb and throwing in confusing timelines and details and hoping JM would be as confused as you were. If I had decided the case I would have given the plaintiff her lawyers fees as extraordinary damages as the defendant is just a crook which his wife is completely in on.

She’s more worried about her make-up instead of taking the word of a LICENSED ROOFER SHE TAKES THE WORK OF 2 shmucks who don’t have a ROOFING LICENSE JUST A CONTRACTOR LICENSE BULLSHIT. The brother came up and just agreed and says “yes your honor you can see everything he said” Bologna… this is why she judges anything under $5000 or people would get screwed. lOL she pretty much just took advice from 2 fireman about a murder instead of a police officer. That’s exactly the similarity of what judge milian did. She needs to lay off the makeup and give honesty and correct judgements. Ridiculous, took 2 shmucks words with no license over someone with a roofing license as 30 years. NOT TO MENTION HE HIRED 1 SHMUCK A WHILE AGO TO WORK FOR HIM. and to show you the thievery of these kids and two guys she said “my lawyer charged me $1000 to send the guy a letter in the mail”. $1000!!!!!!!!!! Fucking people. Understand there is a fee but $1000 I would of made her prove the bill, then call the lawyer and and if they agreed it was $1000 I would call the BAR association (for lawyers who are falsifying or trying to get over people with there attorneys license) and have the BAR association look into this lawyer for that. Absolutely ridiculous. That’s the only thing judge milian did right when she said “GTFO your friends a lawyer?????” $1000 for sending a letter. Not even $500. Sending letters for filing complaints or a suit is like $200-400. Anyways her makeup is getting to her head. Now judge Judy is the shit she is always right someone she can go off emotion but she’s the judge!!!

Sorry peeps I didn’t want to upset anyone without explaining. I didn’t mean to imply anything about normal anxiety that we have naturally. I’m a former addict, and I use to lie all the time to my parents, my spouse, mostly myself. When I got sober (over ten years ago) I realized all the anxiety that crushed me from being untruthful was gone. I don’t get anxious when I’m telling the truth now, because I live honestly. I understand that is just my own example, and I’m only talking about anxiety we bring upon ourselves. I do think this guy was putting her off, then throwing his wife under the bus constantly was him not being truthful.

Plaintiff got help from her lawyer, who knows how to make arguments and sound like they’re in the right. The defendant put seal coating on the roof. On flat roofs that only holds off the roof for a short time and it will leak again. No doubt, with the new roofers , the roof will leak again - and the new roofers will be in the same shoes as the defendant now. Perhaps she might get a third set of roofers that will say the second didn’t do a good job.

The testimony about licenses had me questioning everything. Who was the better scammer? The one giving testimony about the work is not licensed. The one affirming the work is the "roofer's" brother. The wife who is not licensed is giving licensed information. The water was too muddied for me to take a side.🤔🤔🤔 lesson for homeowners: get a licensed roofer. Pay the extra money for an independent inspection of the work. Read the contract and clarify what is done and expectation on repair work longevity.

Sounds like the baldheaded guy didn't do the job right in the first place so the other guys had to repair his botched job. I think she should have gotten some money for the lawyer's fees because she wouldn't have had to hire a lawyer in the first place if the defendant had just returned the money to her.

I agree. JM just blew if off like the lawyer is friend who did it for free. How would she know? Most folks are not sure even after watching court shows how to go about doing things legally. I've seen folks go without lawyer and should have gotten one.

The phrase is - I almost had a heart attack!....and when you swear in under oath, you are committing to being impeccable with your word, to not commit perjury. This is parallel to using the f word. It might be alright if you and your dad say - f this and f that - all day long, but never in front of a judge.

How can not paying for the lawyer's fee be made whole. He should have to pay for the lawyer screen because that has to do with the roof regardless if it's a friend or not that friend still charged her $750 to write a letter judge. Remember when you used to be a lawyer and you used to do the same thing and now you're criticizing your own people for doing that really Judge Milian sounds like you're being a two-faced person here😅

Defendant said "he shouldn't be responsible for work he didn't work on. He didn't do the roof over the kitchen." Then, under direct questioning from Judge. He did do all the roofs with the seal coating. Then, added the fiber next. He's a dummy can't remember what he did. WTH? Keep a log everyday. Write in the weather. Now, with cell phones. Take photos of everything each step of the way.
