A French twist is something very different lol. The reason this doesn’t have a proper name is because it would be ridiculous. It would be a lace twist braid into a 3 strand braid

@@meinkanta I'm from the 90s. It's a French twist. I read the directions in an 80s hair book 📖 😐. And just to be even more 90s, the bottom is an Indian braid.

@@meinkantaI'm pretty sure a French twist is an updo. Not a braid. I can't really see the hair pattern, but a friend of mine used to do a 4 strand braid that they called a Snake Braid. I never learned how to do it
@Amy_Dunn
@Amy_Dunn Жыл бұрын
Pro tip: you can do a twist all the way down too. When you finish twisting the scalp area, divide the hair into two sections and twist the hair in both sections in the same direction individually until they feel tight, but not so much they are pulling or hurting. Then twist the two sections together in the opposite direction and put in and elastic at the end.

I came here to say this! It gives the hair a nice, uniform texture when you take it out. Wavy curls vs braid waves.

@Lyran7
@Lyran7 Жыл бұрын
@@WhitneyDahlin hmm, I'm really not an expert, when I tried it I only did one side braid which was a little messy, and parts came out at the nape of my neck but it mostly stayed in. Have you tried hair wax or anything like that?
@WhitneyDahlin
@WhitneyDahlin Жыл бұрын
@@Lyran7 no I didn't use any wax or hairspray to keep it in maybe I should? Maybe it's because my hair is too freshly washed? I have almost the exact same type of hair as hers my hair is really straight and fine and pretty long it's like 28 in or something. I'm very curious as to if her hair ended up falling out throughout the day or if it worked for her for the whole day
@Lyran7
@Lyran7 Жыл бұрын
@@WhitneyDahlin yeah, fresh hair will not behave for me at all 😅 usually better on the 2nd or 3rd day for me. Maybe try a little hair spray, not too much just a spritz maybe? Sorry I'm useless when it comes to hair, it's amazing I've got any haha

I've been doing this for several years. It gets better over time. Love how well yours turned out, first shot! Something you might try is taking the braids and creating a bun by weaving them through the opposite side at the point where the twist turns into braid. Create a type of figure-8 until you have two short ends, bring them together with a hairtie/elastic and tuck that behind the bun.

No it’s not. Dorothy’s (Judy Garland) wig twists were way different and that hairstyle was not invented or created in that movie. Probably had a name before that too.
@alexipembrooke3510
@alexipembrooke3510 9 ай бұрын
@@annad5130 I never once said that they were invented for the movie. Also, she’s not wearing a wig. She originally had a blonde wig made, but they never used it in filming. This is, as I said, a *modified* version of Dorothy’s braids. Hers were, what we were taught in cosmetology school and I continue to teach, twisted or rolled plaits. The hair, sometimes back combed from grip, is rolled along the top or sides of the hair till the occipital bone, then plaited off. The braids can go all the way down the remainder of the hair or tied off with the unbraided ends curled.

The real trick is twisting the whole way down. You have to twist the two sections in the opposite direction to how they were being wrapped or overlayed (ie if doing the right side of your head when you are braiding on your head you a overlaying the sections anticlockwise so when you get the the left over hair make 2 sections and twist each indivdual section clockwise as you wrap them anticlockwise, and vice versa for the left) if that makes any sense. 🙃

you literally just don't cut it lol. (as someone with 3 foot hair ) it'll usually either grow or it won't, some peoples genes don't like them so it doesn't 🥲 ofc there's things you can do to make your hair more healthy and happy (don't use heat too much, good shampoo/ conditioner / oils etc) but nothing will really magically make your hair grow... it's just kinda... wait 7+ years lo
