Scotty, my girlfriend has a 2014 Malibu with 80k on it. Her manual says the trans fluid should have been done at 60k. Should I change it/flush it/or let it be? Keep up the great videos

Scotty is great when it comes to working on a vehicle. Most mechanics on KZfaq are working from a hydraulic lift. NOT MANY people have a lift in their garage and Scotty is smart enough to realize this. Great video. Thank you for producing a video that the average man can relate to.

Thank you Sir Scotty! I'm a lady driver and owner and a long-time subscriber from Philippines. Some mechanics are suprised to know that I know a lot of things about the car. It's because I watch your videos, I'm not a mechanic but it helps a lot when I talk to my mechanics whenever I visited for a repair. Just like today, I know that my oxygen sensor is bad so I need to buy a new one and have my mechanic replace it for me, but before doing so, I have to re-watch this video because you know.... knowledge is power!

Scotty, you are awesome! I have a check engine light recently came on. Car is running like always. Had it scanned and the read out was talking about bank one and bank two running too lean. Thanks to you, I know what banks are. I'm replacing fuel pump and filter. Car only has 135,000 miles on it. Don't know why fuel pump is going bad so soon after 22 years! Go figure!

Be sure you apply anti-seize paste on the threads of the O2 sensor before you reinstall it, or you'll have a devil of a time getting it out without destroying the threads the next time.

And don't buy generic o2 sensors. Be sure to use the brand that is original equipment to your make and model. Cars can be very finnicky about this. There are many crappy generic sensors that are cheaper, but don't work well at all. Also, if you replace one sensor on a bank, it's a good idea to replace the second one as well, because a new sensor and an old sensor might not agree with each other very well. These things can be a pain in the butt, but if you spend a few extra dollars and get the right OE parts, your car will be much happier.

Scotty. I had simmilar problem, but rather DPF related. There is a pressure sensor right behind and after the DPF, which tends to fail about 150-200k km run. If it fails it makes car reduce power and it runs snail like. Me and my dad experienced that. Also VW/Audi with TDI engines will confirm.

Florida used to do them and then they commissioned Florida State University to do a study and found that less than 1% of accidents in Florida were caused by faulty cars and believe it or not, they stopped doing them because they felt they were wasting resources and the inspections were a waste of time. Imagine that! Understand that states that do vehicle inspections perform them to steal money from their residents, that is the only reason for them $$$$$$.

Always use anti-seize on the threads of the sensor when changing these O2 sensors most reputable parts come with a little package of anti-seize anyway and it's just doing yourself a favor the next time you change one or shows a little mercy to the next mechanic if you decide to hire someone.

Nice SC430. I like "all that plastic crap" underside my cars although it is tedious to remove and does not make for a quick inspection. My BMW is almost fully covered front to back. What it does that I like is it works to minimize corrosion from the salt and dirt,makes for smoother quieter airflow,better mileage and can help pinpoint drip sources.

My car had rough idle but no warning or engine lights or fault codes,I removed both O2 censors and cleaned with carb cleaner, problem solved, it ran lovely 👍

The connectors on exhaust sensors are a pain to unlatch, as they use Class 4 150C capable plastics and seals. Over time the silicone seals can bond in place from the heat and the plastic stiffens. The best method is to push them in the mating direction first, press the latch hard, and then unmate.

I had an '05 Accord with a bad O2 sensor. I pulled it and suspended just the tip in gasoline over night. Screwed it back in and it was still going strong years later when I sold it.

I ran Cataclean and my check engine light went off, after my computer was scanned and they told me I needed an o2 sensor. 3 years later, haven’t had another problem.

Last unit i did O2 sensors on was a 96 'camry 2.2L- did the downstream O2 sensor with new converter..aww jeez..it took forever for the monitor to run & it didnt like the first sensor anymore- ended up doing front sensor & more monitor driving..then it was happy..good Toyota car that still passes emissions test( did a 100k complete service/inspection on it 3yrs ago)- yeah ...I really did go over everything-great little Japan unit.

You can "BANK" on my 94 Toyota Celica not having a bunch of check engine lights on the dash and you can take that to the "BANK".

After she left I feel like nothing will bring me the same joy, but I’m grateful that Scotty is here to teach me how to get my car to run better it brings me the same joy when I fix something on my car

Sometimes it amazes me to think how much money Scotty has saved over the years with his automechanic knowledge and skills. Maybe Scotty can do a video on how an average Joe with zero auto repairing skills, on a part time and leisure basis, can further their knowledge in this area?

Experience. That's the best teacher, practice practice practice. Even if you mess up, next time you will know how NOT to do something and go at it a different way. Also, you will never stop learning, Even old mechanics learn new tricks of the trade all the time.

On a 2006 Toyota Vitz with a 1KR-FE engine, I disconnected the post cat/ down stream O2 sensor wiring harness/ plug and no Check Engine Light (CEL) was visible on the cluster panel. I only remembered it was accidentally unplugged when driving a few KMs, the car gave a jerking Motion when picking up upon acceleration. So my presumption is that it doesn't always emit the CEL. Maybe just store the troubleshooting code until the O2 sensor issue is resolved. Cheers Scotty very informative vids

I literally had to change my bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1 just last week and hardest part for me. Was just unplugging the darn thing

I got the P2238 O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 1 a couple of times on my '04 RAV4. Everything else runs fine. I reset the engine light with my OBDII scan tool and all was well.

Hey Scotty I've done the seafoam power steering trick work perfect got no more problems with it you could steer the car with one finger now before you couldn't even move it thanks a lot
