liljb1414 Thanks! I didn’t even have external microphones when I did that video! The new Atmos will be in Jiles Journey Episode 11 or so. I am working on episode 7 today. This is also a good series to see the changes in the way I film and edit progress. There is so much to creating KZfaq content that isn’t obvious at the outset.

Hi. Thanks for the informative video. I think you misselected the atmos as Height vs. Top as your speakers are mounted in the ceiling vs. mounted to the ceiling. Not sure if it makes a difference but would be interesting to correct it and see.

My mom and dad just bought a new house and he wants to build a home theater since he hasn't had one for 10 years now, but his budget is tight (mom wants a new kitchen first). I thinking about doing a full 7.2.4 system with the Micca Micca M-CS for the LCR's with the Micca M-8S for sides and rears, and the Micca M-8C for Atmos Channels, what do you think? I was looking at the Klipsch in wall stuff, but its really expensive in my opinion.
@JilesMcCoy
@JilesMcCoy 4 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for a cost effective solution the Micca will be just fine. I'd love to see pics of how it turns out. I still use the Micca for Atmos and they have held up well.
@Edward135i
@Edward135i 4 жыл бұрын
good to know, my dad used to have a really high end Klipsch system (THX Ultra 2, they now belong to me) so I'm curious how they will hold up against it the Klipsch speakers, but at $50 per speaker i figure why not, its not a huge amount of money to spend and they can always be upgraded if he wants to latter, ether way it will be a 1000x better than the Sonos 5.1 system he was going to drop $1,776.00 on.
@itsJoshW
@itsJoshW 3 жыл бұрын
It's been a couple years (well, with COVID it feels like far more than a couple years lol). How would you review those ceiling speakers? Background: I opted to grab some "Theatre Solution" speakers on Amazon before, literally felt like they were worth $20/speaker. They aren't horrible, but I wouldn't ever consider using them for movies or tv shows. I went for Yamaha NS-IC600's for my bedroom 2 channel atmos (5.1.2...or I can switch to 7.1, using a computer makes it a lot easier to do so lol). I certainly like them a lot, and atmos in a small room sounds great with 2 channels. The living room (Which yes, I'm not making a dedicated 'theater' room, more just a theater experience within living spaces) will have a bit of a more crazy setup like what you have here; A 7.1.4 setup. My idea is a bit different than most though; To be less intrusive to the eyes, I'll be doing in ceiling and in wall speakers for surrounds, with physical speakers for the front channels. But I did remodel the house for this, to be fair; Double drywall green glued with batt insulation between each wall, siliconed underneath drywall and within the gap between the solid hardwood flooring and wall (silicone to allow for movement of wood in expansion, of course) with pink foam board insulation in the top hats to stop vibrational sound travel between rooms, double subfloor with green glue inbetween, (extra support beams for the added weight granted..). So I sort of went the in-ceiling/wall setup for more aesthetic, with understanding that the quality may not be 'as great', which is fine if it does the job of immersion.

Great video. I’ve seen a few videos similar to this one and they’ve all when setting up the ceiling speakers have imputed on the setup menu “top front & top rear” but you imputed “top height & back height”. Is there a particular reason why you chose to do it that way? But at the end if it sounds good why not, right? Thanks for the video.

Let me know if you hear a difference. Just last week I installed 4 Klipsch 8” ceiling speakers that I picked up from a friend in great condition and also frys had a killer sale on their Denon 4500 which I couldn’t resist and will be installing soon.

I am sad I missed out on that 4500 sale. I've got the 4400... so I suppose I should wait a bit before upgrading... but the 4500 is nice. I do plan to upgrade my Atmos speakers one of these days. My big driver will be to find a speaker that will fit the holes I have in the ceiling already! Id love to see photos of your Klipsch ceiling speakers!
@67herby89
@67herby89 5 жыл бұрын
Don’t be sad, I’m sure there ain’t too much difference between the 4400 and the 4500. Wait a few years then maybe but not too much is changing anytime soon, I hope. I’ve got the cdt 5800c and there really nice. I’ll be looking forward to future videos.

They are working out great. I have no plans to upgrade them. They come on with music depending on the sound settings you select on your AVR. I sometimes use the rock stadium setting on my Denon and its pretty crazy with the overhead sound! They mix well with my DTs... I cant pick them out other than that the sound is from overhead.

Hey Peanut. The front and rear Atmos speakers are at 90 degree offset from the MLP. Correct setup isn't based on wall distance. Its based on relative position with the MLP. Google and you can find the Atmos setup recommendations and see where speakers should be placed. Thanks for watching!
