Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr. of Chaplin, Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes) returns in time to heal the queen (Jessie Buckley of Wild Rose). Sticks reveals that Lord Thomas Badgley (Jim Broadbent from Longford and Moulin Rouge!), one of the Queen's chairmen, poisoned her in order to take the crown for himself, and it was he who ordered Müdfly (Michael Sheen from Twilight) to foil Dolittle's quest. The Queen has him arrested for treason, and thanks Dolittle for saving her.

What’s the Dolittle movie about?
After the loss of his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr. of Chaplin, Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes), the famous doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria of England (Jessie Buckley of Wild Rose) isolates himself behind the walls of his mansion, with only his menagerie of exotic animals as his only company. But when the young Queen falls seriously ill, Dr. Dolittle, at first reluctant, is forced to set sail for a mythical island in an epic adventure in search of a cure. As he meets ancient rivals and discovers strange creatures, this journey will lead him to regain his brilliant spirit and courage. In the course of his quest, the doctor is joined by a young apprentice (Harry Collett) and a merry band of animal friends, including an anxious gorilla, an enthusiastic but stubborn duck, a bickering duo between a cynical ostrich and a cheerful polar bear, and finally a stubborn parrot, Dolittle's most trusted advisor and confidant.

Why does Badgley think that he actually has the authority to prevent the administering of a cure for the Queen’s ailment? He does not have the authority to order anyone to stop a doctor from curing a patient, especially the queen.

@@theempireeofficial3935 I like to think of them as movies that took inspiration from the books. It feels like Disney made a similar move when they made The Princess and the Frog. They acknowledged that the original story existed in the beginning of the film so they were able to set the tale in 1920s New Orleans and add their own unique twists with the shadow man and Tiana turning into a frog as well. If you know what you're doing then you can make a very good movie that way.

And besides, whether they believe on Dolittle's unique ability or not, they would have to check Badgley's pockets anyway when Dolittle accuse him for poisoning the queen. And, if he's not guilty of anything, he wouldn't have mind to be checked by the guards instead of reasoning that Dolittle can't be taken seriously for accusing him after talking to animals that gives him some testimonies.

This movie got too much flak, it's a family friendly popcorn flick. Not everything that comes out has to be a super serious and complex film, it's okay to have something a little more quirky and doesn't require any deep thinking and is just entertaining.

This film made my birthday when it came out. Great story, charming and funny characters, not to mention I got the theater all to myself. Smack in the middle with no one else around, as if it were my own personal cinema room. Definitely a wonderful night to remember.

great movie and a great remake. i think people were thinking it was going to be a remake of eddie murphy's dr.dolittle and not a remake of the original dr. dolittle which this one follows more closely. note, i haven't seen the original, but from what I read about it, it does follow a similar path to this one. both Murphy's and Jr.s Dolittle movies were fun, family movies worthy of being watched. just be aware that they are very different films

How they choreographed this scene, # of actors, VA+CGI, timing with the music is pretty impressive IMO. Even just the symmetry of how much craziness the characters went to matching the room intensity is neat.

killeing she most likely would of had people watching her 24/7. The amount of people in there does hint to it and it’s their queen; They would want somebody there in case her condition changes in order to call the doctor or inform her family that they should say the final goodbye

It’s mildly painful to hear Robert mangling a Welsh accent whilst there’s an actual Welshman in the film (Michael Sheen). Why do films love murdering accents xD Otherwise a brilliant film.
