In the quest for the magical fruit of Eden, Dr. Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr.) and company come across a dragon named Ginko-Who-Soars (Frances de la Tour) who’s fiercely guarding the magical fruit. Dr. Dolittle gets through to Ginko-Who-Soars as they both relate to their loss of loved ones. Dr. Dolittle then heals Ginko-Who-Soars and she guides them to the magical fruit.

Synopsis:
Robert Downey Jr. electrifies as the man who could talk to animals: Dolittle. After losing his wife, he hermits himself away behind the high wall of his manor, but is forced to set sail on an epic adventure when the queen falls gravely ill. Agreed. One thing I like about this Dragon is she sometimes walks on all fours and her wings. Personally I would like to think that's how Dragons actually walked if they actually existed in more than just legends and myths.

He has young children. They knew he was famous but were too young to watch him in Marvel movies. Dolittle was meant for them and their age group. It's a very simple movie with a very good message, especially for young kids. Everybody was expecting him to do some heavyweight " important" film and shoot for an Oscar to prove himself, and instead he made a movie for his children. That's one of the reasons why I like him so much.

I've heard from people who grew up with others speaking Welsh accents that Downey did amazing in this performance. This was a pretty cool movie for families to get into.

@@zuuti Same with the English accent he did for Sherlock Holmes. It was hard to take RDJ seriously in that role when he was struggling to keep a consistent accent. British actors do so well figuring out American accents, it seems unfair American actors can't seem to get British accents right.

Very close Welsh Accent. Extremely well done on his part. Didn't sound wrong, but it was a little off in small areas. Certainly nothing so wrong that it spoilt my attention to the scene - spent most of that laughing, especially at the squirrel!

Considering how LONG that stuff had been impacted there... it's amazing that it came out so nice and spotless clean. 40 feet of dragon, hundreds of years eating idiots in their armor, and not a speck of brown to be seen. The effluvia should've sent doolittle flying like the squirrel and ended up in a heap like the guy checking out the pile of triceratops dung in the original Jurassic Park.

@amzarnacht6710 true...also wouldn't the Fumes be Flammable? Perhaps on par with Sulfer? Also being said Dragon droppings could be akin to Ash...which might explain why she didn't suddenly start deficating. All the nutrient rich parts are digested or Burnt away while the bone and Armor are passed through

I love this movie! Robert Downey Jr. Is the most perfect Dolittle in my opinion, he truly feels feral and like one of them, I even feel he works better for the concept than the original. I think this dragon is beautiful and very cool! The fart joke made me laugh intensely, so I'm glad they put it in, especially when the bagpipes came out that had me in hysterics laughing! (Although dragons, Dino's, Kaiju, and other reptiles pull it off funniest, so it obviously would be funny in this case). I love how natural all of the animals look, this movie just works for me! I think it is a masterpiece!

Who’d have thought that an American could pull off a taffy accent as well as the taffy’s themselves! Perhaps that’s why Michael Sheen swapped his accent for Robert Downey Jnr’s one and vice versa and it has to be said that RDJ is probably the most versatile actor of our time! His portrait of Black Face just shows you just how exceptional he is....

Dude - what RDJ did was an actor in black makeup. It was not blackface. Go look up a picture of Al Jolson in The Jazz Singer. That is Blackface. I think this genre of movie is the kind that Johnny Depp can only play properly. RDJ's movies usually portrays a cool and confident character... so when I saw this movie, something was really off, and I kinda thought of JD ... Who's really in these kinds of quirky ,playful, crazy-like characters.

Look, when I first heard of this movie it was due to this dragon scene "Dr. Dolittle healing a broken hearted dragon" and played by RDJr?! I thought this must be the most epic movie ever!!! In my mind I was expecting someone betrayed the dragon and now she doesn't trust anyone anymore, and knowing Dr.Dolittle, I assumed she also had some severe physical pain like something going wrong with her foot for example, something that would make it very difficult to take off or land, or walk, so she couldn't hunt properly and she was miserable both physically and mentally, and then after an epic battle, Dolittle convices her to allow him to help her, and gains his trust in some epic dialogue about life and wisdom! Then I started watching it and saw that she lost a loved one, perhaps her lover... she was suffering even more than I had anticipated but... then I decided to continue watching... and now I'm the one that's broken hearted...

Oh God! I don’t mind the talking cgi animals, but couldn’t they have written dialogue for them that matched the time period!?!? “Teamwork makes the he dream work.” Really!?
