@@blythespirit4077 Hi Blythe, I might have met them . We rehearsed for 2 weeks . There were so many people involved. Writers, choreographers an directors . I know they were probably there but don't remember personally meeting them. All of Carol's support staff from the Carol Burnett show were there . I remember meeting Ken an Mitzi Welch. The writers . Everyone involved were amazing! We all had jobs to do. It felt like one big family. Where everyone respected each others talent . Looking back it was a lot of fun . I was a dancer plus we were in the comedy skits with Dolly an Carol. Dolly an Carol are so nice. How you see them on TV is how they are in real life . Down to earth real people. The other Carol Burnett special I did was Sills an Burnett at the Met. Then yrs later with Dolly in Nashville. It was a long time ago but happy to answer anyone's questions. If my memory doesn't fail me. Lol.

Just found out this info: "Dolly and Carol in Nashville, a CBS television special from Feb. 14, 1979, teamed Dolly Parton with comedian Carol Burnett for a night of knee-slappers and country music. The crossover moment was filmed at the Grand Ole Opry and featured more than just the comedic stylings of The Carol Burnett Show and the familiar hits of a mainstream country star."

Carol Burnett is a comic genius who is one of the few to share the same stage as Dolly Parton and not be completely upstaged (Dolly never tries to do that, it's just her natural star power). During this same era, she also appeared with opera superstar Beverly Sills as well. She can truly put herself in any situation and make it funny.

My grandfather was a Banjo playing English Man. I didn't meet him ,but my mom and her sisters sat around as he played as young girls.. I sure wonder what it sounds like when a European plays one .. 😁..

John w I wonder if he still has it! Here’s an article about little Lewis - Lewis Phillips -- as a successful bluegrass musician today. twestival.fm/lewis-phillips-bluegrass/ In fact, you can see some clips of the adult Lewis here on KZfaq. So again, when this pandemic lockdown is over (hopefully soon!), time for a reunion of those three!

I wonder if it was really Lewis' banjo to begin with and Carol was just borrowing it for the skit.

@@byronp2311 yeah the first few Eunice skits I saw back in the day I even assumed the setting was in Texas just because of the accent. I had a West Texas mama and an East Texas daddy ( 2 different accents) and I grew up on the South Texas border (yet another accent). In Austin where I live now all roads converge so you can hear every dialect and regional speech.

@@dontaylor7315 While I grew up in Tulsa, I actually had your basic mid-western accent because I was addicted to TV and that was standard. Been in Austin since '72 and suspect I've developed some sort of Texas accent by this point.
