In a "CBS This Morning" interview last year, Guyton revealed that Dolly Parton tops her dream collaboration list. When Gayle King went to interview Parton in Nashville, she agreed to help us plan a little surprise.

@@ericbrooks939 yeah the white people dont own country music as well as nobody owns any music wether white, black or brown or yellow. Music is music and its for all. Soty Culler because race is the point of my post, you imp. If she was twerking in a thong or a woman crying over her son shot by the cops, you would have silently judged her because of her race. So, feel free to cut the crap, please and thank you. When it's time to bash black women or sit back whilst black women are bashed, no one thinks about race being a problem then. But when it's about praising black women, it gets folks upset. Disgusting.

There is a perception that black people don't like country. Not only that but black people have helped to influence all types of music, often with little representation. When race doesn't affect your life it is easy to say race shouldn't matter. However, black people were suffering from the same issues 3 years ago that we are now.
@peterdavino44083 жыл бұрын
@@takealeftatthelight5284 Jessica you sound like a very good person who means no harm to anyone. Your point is very well taken. I believe that the way the world works is that if you don't have the problem then the problem doesn't exist. It's only when it's happening to you & only when it's making a negative impact on your life that it takes on any importance. God bless you and I hope that one day soon we can all try to out ourselves in the other person's shoes so that we can have some understanding & compassion for what they're going through. I love everybody & my dream is that we can someday live together as one family. There's no need for all this fussing & fighting. So unnecessary & so unproductive.

It's a great thing to see a classy older White woman like Dolly as a country singer show so much gratitude to a young Black woman. I don't see color either! I am of mixed races and I love all types of music! R&B, Country, Classic Rock etc. I can go from Lil Wayne to Elvis Presley in a heartbeat ....Country music still has a little way to go as far as different ethnicities joining this industry instead if it being predominantly White. Some Black folks are born and raised in the Country too🤨👍😉Who could dislike a video like this???? Such Idiots in today's society🤨

Wow...black girl paying homage to white country singer...Perhaps this beautiful black woman needs to do a little research on the true pioneers of country music...this form of music was created by men and woman who look like her...Wishing her a long career in the industry...
@meboneme18 жыл бұрын
+beeatrice YOU are an IDIOT! DOLLY PARTON is the MOST FAMOUS "country singer" ON THE PLANET! BLACK or WHITE! By the way,what black WOMAN could she "research" concerning COUNTRY MUSIC? I am sure she has researched the LEGENDARY CHARLEY PRIDE,but he is NOT a woman in the business. Do YOU know ANY other black country singer,other than Darius Rucker,who no doubt got in because he was ALREADY known from Hootie and the Blowfish! ANYONE that wants to be in the music business should want to get inspiration from THE BEST in the field.
@highonimmi8 жыл бұрын
+beeatrice mickey loves dolly because she has heard her music since since she was a baby. if you do the right research you will learn country is a mixture of black, white & brown skinned peoples ethnic music blended together. blues (from African American work songs/spirituals + European American folk music) to Latino/Tejano & blue grass are all gneres that helped flavor country music. country is not from just one music genre. country was not created by just one people of a certain color or origin. why is that when someone doesn't discriminate and admires a person outside their community there's always some butt hurt bigot ready to tear her down for it? we can't make a persons skin color NOT be an issue until everyone stops making it one. now, tell me, what recordings can she listen to from the 1700's and 1800's in order to pay homage to anyone from those era's...? don't worry i'll wait.
@highonimmi8 жыл бұрын
+meboneme1 what I don't get is why it's great if a white singer has a black singer as their favorite...but, when a black gal has a white girl as hers she is selling out her people. STOP MAKING COLOR AN ISSUE! stop dictating to people who they want to admire. you're spot on, meboneme1. dolly is the queen of country music. she started during an era when women got shit for money, didn't get the respect of their male counter parts and had to fight the "good old boys club." if anyone wants to learn how to build and maintain a music career look at dolly.
@imolaredm38 жыл бұрын
+beeatrice Maybe you should do a little research on Dolly Parton, if you want to make this a black and white issue. Dolly has had a lot of African American associations through the years. Did you know that she had a #1 hit song, "Starting Over Again" written by Donna Summer? Did you know she had an Academy Award nominated duet, "The Day I Fall In Love", with James Ingram? Did you know that Whitney Houston recorded the biggest #1 song of all time, "I Will Always Love You", written by Dolly? Did you know that Oprah Winfrey once said that Dolly was the #1 celebrity on her list that she wanted to interview in the 80s? Did you know that Queen Latifah and Keke Palmer starred in a movie, "Joyful Noise" along side Dolly and sang many of Dolly's original songs? Wow...maybe Mickey has a reason to want to meet Dolly? Good for her! I hope they'll collaborate on something great too! Isn't nice to have people who are happy in this world? Just sayin'
@stephaniemcginty42717 жыл бұрын
This has nothing to do with who started country music, nor race. We've all come a long way and if you expect for things to better further from now, we all need to put away that type of thinking. There's nothing wrong with knowing history and not letting it repeat itself, although holding grudges over anything, doesn't help the future, it's just a way to keep people hating each other, when love covers a multitude of sins.
