My father had amazing grace played on bagpipes at his funeral , 21 gun salute as well . he was a nam vet came home with 2 purple hearts a silver and bronze star and left a part of himself in those jungles. He never missed a trip to the wall on the anniversary of his return to the states. It was the only time I ever saw him cry

@@charliemike13 thank you. I found out during his funeral that he was also a trail blazer, tunnel rat, paratrooper and also fought in Desert Storm less than 30 years after the Vietnam War. He won the bronze star, Purple Heart, along with a lot of others. I really wish I would have known just how heroic my dad really was.

A stirring rendition of a classic patriotic song. Dolly Parton has done a great service to our country through her "Dolly's Stampede" program, in which the U.S. flag is displayed at a full gallop around the arena each and every night. It is a deeply stirring image that I remember as a child, which was even more meaningful as an adult and it is one that will stay with me forever. Dolly didn't have to include such an expression of patriotism in her award-winning program, but she chose to do so over any other consideration, and that is commendable especially in the entertainment industry. Thank you, Dolly Parton, and God bless you!

I remember when Sgt Barry Sadler released this song around 1964. It was such a tough time with the Vietnam War and young soldiers who had to serve because it was a mandatory law. They went and served as their country told them to do. They did all you could ask of them then return home to America where many war protesters treated them horribly. Many never got the hero’s welcome they deserved and were treated like they had done something wrong and all they had done is what their country ordered them to do.

There is no interpretation of the song Ballad of the Green berets. It is an interpretational by itself. When staff Sergeant Sadler recorded this song, it told a very specific story, and honored his brothers. To reinterpret this song in any way only diminishes the legend of the green berets. A group of Special Forces soldiers who will dedicate their lives for those who has been oppressed. They give their lives to teach others the skills necessary to free them. Adding a verse about Socom and Delta Force, have nothing to do with the Green Berets. There are separate special forces units used for different purposes. Green Berets are Insurgent Fighters and teachers.

I seriously love your music, you're a legend in the country industry, and the music industry in general. However the song The Ballad of the Green Berets, a song that went to number one at the height of the Vietnam War. This song is sacred sacred to the members of the Green Berets and special forces. Not to mention to their families and their memories. My father went through two tours of Vietnam, I wasn't United States green parade. Changing the lyrics to this song in any way is sacrilege regardless of what intentions however well intended they were. I'm very Sadler wrote the words to the song, they were written by a Green Beret to honor his brothers. When you change that story. You changed the original meaning from sergeant sadler. Well I thank you very much for celebrating our men and women in service. I just can't get behind the fact that you added an entire verse to a song that is never needed to be changed since it was released. Seals and Socom, they may lead the way they have nothing to do with the Green Berets.

My sister loved this song. She married an american. Bit controversial, a british officer marrying a full screw jnco. She was one of the elite in our forces. Csar pilot. I remember asking her what her job involved. She said rather tounge and cheek; rescuing lost Seals Delta and Usmc. She was killed in 2016. It cost her life getting her bird down. She was the only casualty her crew and extracted wounded survived. Her husband was from philadelphia. He was kia 2008. May god bless those who serve and be with our special forces. The few the brave the best.

Thanks to everyone who fights for our freedom all of our military and the politicians who actually care about our freedom and protecting it! Thanks to the green berets and am sorry some of our politicians let just anyone wear it and not just the ones who passed the tests required to be SF. It should be reserved for them. The citizens are thankful for your service. Happy Veterans Day.

Мелодия прекрасная. Но слышал разные версии У немцев называется "Один герой, и тысяча солдат". Я за солдат. Сам такой. Светлая память всем парням полегших на полях сражений. Да, светится их имя. Аминь... The melody is beautiful. But I heard different versions of the Germans called "One hero, and a thousand soldiers." I'm for the soldiers. He's like that himself. Bright memory to all the guys who died on the battlefields. Yes, their name is hallowed. Amen
