Mycareer is garbage because of the long ass non skipable cutscenes, the cringy story characters, lack of emotion, and most importantly there’s no draft.

Remember they really regressed with the create-a-player feature? you could do face sculpting anymore? that was one of the biggest issues that plagued 2k18 when it first came out and now it seems like this is going to go down as one of the worst 2k games to ever be released. major step back. the only mode i play is myleague mode but everything is pretty much the same with that mode too.

Another annoying thing about 2k18 is that when you pick a team a team in Online mode, and your opponent pick the SAME EXACT TEAM, 2k doesn’t let you change or leave the match. Like wtf?

here are my main reasons why 2k is so freaking frustrating to play: - 2K GREED: for a full price title, the game feels soooo greedy. when I pay for a game, I don’t do in game purchases. ever! call me old-school, but not gonna happen. so I take the path of grinding. this year they made it impossible tho. I got 450h in this game but I am so far from 99 (1x 91 pg, 1x 89 sf), I accepted long ago that I’m not gonna make it. The cut scenes/story are pure advertisement, that’s why they are impossible to skip. I got alooooot vc banked up and would like to try out other archetypes, but the thought of having to sit through all the commercials again is too much for me. - POINT MULTIPLICATOR: the fact, that the game is rewarding you to play on lowest difficulty is one of the most frustrating things to go through in 2k18. I don’t even want to write about it. Took all joy from the game. Plus, I developed bad habits, like gambling for steals, crazy passing... - AI and LAYUPS: On highest difficulty the AI hits ridiculous shots, when me and my teammates can’t make open layups?? Teammate shot selection is so bad, you are forced to do everything for them. I wasted a lot of time on the simulating-games-for-vc-bug and playing on lowest difficulty just to get some vc/credits. If 2k don’t realize they are pushing players to do stupid shit I won’t be a customer any more. Would be such a pity, because I really love the game itself.

I feel like I can never get on the Park without friends. I think that there should be parks for different level players, like a park for only 60-69 overalls then one with 70-79 overalls and so on. Then you can have a park where you can play with friends no matter your rating. I feel like this would be a good way to get more people playing the game bc I feel like the only people that are allowed on the parks are the guys that are 90+ overall

Can they please find some skill based way to get poster dunks, blocks, and draw fouls? Why can't contests and blocks be timing based instead of just spamming triangle and jumping like an idiot? Why when you pump fake, they can some how still stay in front of you? Why when you have the person right where you want them, the AI has to do a dummy foul? Why the hell are they trying to decrease 5 out cheese, but they give myteam cards like Hakeem, kareem, ralph Sampson, and bill russell, 85+ 3pts? Why dont players get punished for running out of position cheese lineups? Why does rim protector (especially in alltime teams) basically not matter? Why can you LITERALLY RELEASE THE BALL PERFECT EVERYTIME WITH A 90+ 3pt shooter, BUT NEVER GET REWARDED FOR IT?

I stopped playing 2k because of the player progression system in mycarreer because it took a lot of time to get some vc so you could improve your player. When they first introduced the gym and all those things to improve your player I thought it would be great because the grind would be the go-to way to improve your player. Instead, what we got was a system in which you needed to buy vc to be able to improve your player. I know many people grinded hard and got their players to 99 ovr, but many people like the game but don't have the time to grind that much to improve their players to an average overall.

The sim engine is why I stopped playing. There is no reason why when I’m trying to tank and I have a roster of 60 overall players that I end up making the playoffs, or when I have Kyrie Larry bird and Shaq on the same time that we should go 42 - 40.

MyGM is also terrible. The piss poor attempt (I don't even want to call it a "story", then spend 1/3 of the time talking about fucking gourmet food) and the game-breaking draft class that you CAN NOT remove, with 2 players completely destroying the league for the next 15 years, so you have to draft one, and every player over 75 overall will quit the team if they aren't starting, even if Jesus Christ is starting in his position. Along with it basically not changing from the previous 2 years and terrible myleague sim engine it has, its complete dogshit. There's not even an option to have a MyGM without the story! Why isn't that an option!!

I want techs and injuries. I know it sounds so weird but this would make the game so immersive and much more realistic. I remember in 2K16 my player got a hamstring injury in game 7 of the Easter Conference Finals that actually made me mad upset and you could relate to how the player felt. Also Technical fouls would add so much more to the game and shows a character true energy like in 2K16 you could get techs for swearing annoying but made the game realistic.

Sad a lot of you guys are just realizing now that this game is just a cash grab. Been like that for years.

It was just a giant cash grab. More then any 2k I can think of this was the most heavily ridiculed VC game ever. Literally everything you do requires VC and they think spamming you to buy micro transactions is gonna do justice when you’re already begged to preorder and to buy the more expensive versions. Reasons why Fortnite are so successful is the exact reason 2k has not been this year. It’s all about the business model

Offline modes are my go to. I love myleague especially. These modes are too bland and there isnt anything interesting to them. I think it would be cool to do a myleague that focuses a lot more on the players and what they are doing. Imagine seeing articles come out for players in myleague. Maybe a hot young rookie coming out who gets an article of how he has a lot of potential in the league. Also media should be more interactive with the players on your team. Reports asking your players questions and them responding differently due to their personality badges they have equipped. Based on the way that they respond you could see media begin to develop stories and narratives based off of them. I think that the myleague should be it's own basketball universe that is different each time you play and one that evolves and interacts with itself. That would keep it fresh as you try to build your team up and see different reactions from the people who evaluate and interact with them.

What about the franchise mode? Not only do you have to go through a specific story line where you don't have much control but you have to replay the story every time you pick a new team and start over.

On point vid! I believe they need to let fans and actual NBA players either get a BETA or have a saying into what the next 2K is gonna be like. I mean I love 2K, still play it, but damn it’s hard to hit a 3 in MYPLAYER plus it’s hard to control your team, level up, and also there’s been some glitches that cause the game to get some error code that basically freezes the game and crashes causing you to lose all the hard work you just put in. I just caught the Fortnite Wave too man so dope outlook and video on this. Looking forward to the next game and hopefully fans get something worth buying instead of worrying bout VC/bundles.

Most people who buy 2k arent NBA superfans who just hop into myleague and want to have fun with the 90 teams in Play Now. A lot of them are kids (12-17) who are looking to play an easily accessible mode. 2k this year is not accessible without the use of a credit card, so hopes of the main consumer base actually being active on the game is asinine.

I can mentally draw some similarities between the issues you raised in 2K basketball and the FIFA football series. But, I'd like to know your opinion... Are we heading towards a technical depression in sports games? Is it possible for something fresh and new to be delivered to gamers without intergrating micro transactions?

On the game, I litearlly only play play now online, the only decent part of the game because this year there are a lot of fun teams like okc houston warriors... also they added one of my favorite teams ever in the Dantoni suns. Another thing I hate is when I’m shooting free throws and get a “good” release with a pretty good free throw shooter and they consistently miss them. It’s like every time i shoot a free throw I’m just praying it goes in.

One thing that bugs my brother and I when we play 2k is there is no multi team ability in gm mode. We both enjoy drafting fantasy teams with rosters mixed of old and new players and it would be great if 2 would let you have more than one user controlled team in that mode.

Jumpshots are easy to make but simple lay up are hard to make which is stupid...

I recently went back to 2k14,15, and 16 ( I literally flushed my 17 down the toilet) And it’s gotten more and more expensive to upgrade your player In 15 you could buy up to I believe a 90 with 100,000 vc In 18 you go up to an 85 (that’s not even an 85) with 200,000 I made a pure sharp today and to upgrade my 3 from a 76 to a 77 I had to pay 2,500 vc and that’s not including the fact that a hoodie that used to be around 500 is now 1000 and I’m not even a high enough overall for a pair of pants yet All this and I didn’t even mention the gameplay...

I wish they bring a new mode of a simplified my career like they had a few years ago. Start off with either a draft combine game or at most 5 college games, then just start playing in the NBA after being drafted. I didn’t play this year because there were too many animations before you can even start the game, the neighborhood was not fun for me I just wanted to play, everything is so complicated right now.

You've got a wonderful speaking voice. Honestly, I don't give a shit about basketball, and I don't know why youtube recommended this to me, but I stuck around because I enjoyed listening to you.

When I look at my Steam-Stats it really shows hwo shitty this Game has become 2K14=330hrs - 2K15=433hrs - 2K16=306hrs, 2K17=195hrs, 2K18=45hrs. And I bought all on Release...

2K16 was the last game I played consistently. It was genuinely fun. The shot meter was better than the current one. MyCareer wasn't as much of a grind. Considering the amount of people who still played 16 even a year after it came out, it's been the best 2K for current gen. 2K19 needs to be more like 2K16.

One other thing that nobody seemed to have noticed was the screening animations. You can skim the screener, and your players will go right through and give the shooter a free 3 pointer every time. The animations have gotten better in previous years to prevent this, but it's still blatantly obvious online.

Also, i’ve noticed early into this game while playing on MyTeam Domination and MyCarrer, there is a glitch where if you are beating a CPU by a substantial amount the game will automatically say “network connection error” during the fourth quarter where the game doesn’t count when I legitimately defeat the CPU. This was very infuriating while trying to grind out Domination and MyCarrer Games. I stopped playing after it happened several times.

One thing I think 2k needs is ability to import your myplayer and put him in career mode. And also import the tattoos that are bought

1.) offball is overpowered 2.) blowbys and snatch backs are over powered 3.) diamond and pink diamond teams are UNBEATABLE on my team no matter HOW GOOD YOU ARE. They take 0 skill to use 4.) it takes 50 dollars to max out your player at the start

2k16 > 2k18

My issue was the X-Box 360 (I know it's an older system) was that the player announcements were all wrong. Brook Lopez is called Metta World Peace. I tried multiple times to work with support but they just gave me things to try that didn't work.

I didn't even buy 2k18. I only like offline MY career mode, it's the only thing I've ever really played. When they started making it a disgusting grind with VC they lost my buys.Don't think I've bought a 2k since maybe 16 or 15

HERE’s the PROBLEM : My first 2k was 2k8 ... Aight game, but sports video game developers were still figuring basics out at the time - movement/physics were rigid... by 2k11 (with Jordan on the cover) things were getting pretty great. Innovative modes & improving graphics + animations became a yearly thing from 2k11-15. What you have today, is a game that’s so muddied down trying to be realistic, that it ends up ruining the whole cake. Beyond 2k’s lazy af “developers” who seem like they only work on the game while piss drunk... the game has moved from more of an arcade style where you could master certain teams & moves & strategies and two evenly skilled challengers could face off for some dramatic moments... to some form of dysfunctional utopian socialist 2k meant to be hyper real, but crippled as an enjoyable game by the very realism it seeks to (and also fails) to achieve.

As weird as it seems I love Live this year and play it almost every day and I have both games. I really don't think it is inferior to 2K and it feels more real. I never thought the day comes when 2K loses me to live.

The game always starts lagging in park when the score is around 16. This game feels so rigged. I just lagged out of a 19-19 game.

VC should be available offline. Some people don't have internet service that just want to enjoy playing the game. You be able to earn VC, so when you finally get the internet you want have to start at a 60. you can can be a 80+ jump in and play. Another thing, if no one is at the court you should be able to play the computer in pick up games, worth 1/2 points per win & loses. should be a special court for 60-69 & 70-79 to be able to get on and earn some playing time and get out of the way for higher players

I’ve been playing since December and my player is currently 88 overall. I didn’t spend any money on VC and MyCareer is the mode I play 95% of the time. Do y’all think it takes too long to progress your player or do you like that it makes having 90+ overalls more exclusive?

There's also that weird animation glitch where you're driving down the baseline with some somebody guarding you, you have the step ahead of them, but for some reason out of nowhere you're facing the fans and you're two seconds away from a turnover.

I don’t really know how it is in online modes i mainly play offline doing the little create a legend trick but the difficulty spike between rookie pro all star and hall of fame is atrocious it seems like my teammates can’t make any shots when play games on any other mode that isn’t rookie

Back in the old days (when NBA Live was still on the PC) I used to have freedom to do pretty much anything I wanted. Now I have to wait on VC and "MyTeam" cards to customize everything.
