Exactly what I was thinking. For a moment I thought I was watching a hang glider, not a wing suit.

Not a barrel roll 🤪, aileron rolls maintain nose heading with little change in altitude - barrel rolls are like a stretched loop around the outside of a barrel taking you up and and inverted at the peak with respect to your starting point (point of reference) and descending back to original heading and altitude - hence the name; like going around a barrel that’s above and ahead of you but keeping your back to the barrel face for the entire duration. I’m not sure about flying suits, but potentially the difference could save your life I’d imagine. Far too scary for me thank you, but kudos to all you Adrenalin Junkies out there. People say it’s dangerous, you could die - we’re all going to die, that’s the whole point to living life to the max, if we were immortal life would quickly become very boring, and people would wish for death as life would mean nothing. If losing something has no effect on your life, then it’s value is diminished greatly.

Are the glide ratios for wing suits improving still? Or has it kinda maxed out?

I too sometimes live dangerously! Just yesterday, I ran to the mailbox in nothing but my birthday suit and back into the house again before anyone in my neighborhood knew what was going on! I'll have to gopro it next time and post on youtube.

@@Xponential911 That's calculable! However, even if I didn't need to research the effect of variable-intensity wind resistance throughout the drop in order to calculate the answer, which I do, I still don't think I'm into it. But if you find a bored mathematician....

Hey;) horizontal distance was about 4km, the exit is at 3340m ASL, landing at about 1450, so about 1900m of flyable altitude (including canopy ride;)

@@DomeWingsuitThx for these stats. So, ~43 degree descent throughout. I otherwise couldn't have appreciated just how steep this glide path was, because the backdrop to your flight is on such a massive scale. Wow.

Didn't have GPS with me, so I can roughly guess... Was strong thermaly close to the wall, so I think something between 1:3 - 1:5

@@Jim-be8sj Oh, I never did any base jumping myself, but watching this one I was leaning over! I did 132 jumps back in the early 80s before I crunched a vertebra and got an inch shorter, but since then I've done zip lines, the sky jump off the stratosphere tower in Vegas, and six flights aboard a rocket plane that I helped build. It makes me appreciate the sheer insanity of these wingsuiters doing proximity flying. Scares me and I'm fearless!
