I thank the Universe for these two guys, and for Knower and Snarky Puppy. Accountants have shafted music. These guys have demonstrated the ultimate in playing skills. In my day I listened to Chick, Jan Hammer et all. Saw them live even. But as I approach a youthfull late 60's I'm seeing a new era of excitementin music. I would love to be here in 30 years time to see them become the greatest on the planet like our jazz stars are. I'm in love with DOMi. She has a piano skill that is to die for. JD is so crisp that I can hear every tap. They have inspired me to practice again. Long may they live to be the Earths greatest jazz products.
@brianmi403 жыл бұрын
Before you hand out "greatest jazz products" better give Jacob Collier a listen. Try him with Snarky Puppy.... and if you like guitar, Matteo Mancuso has made none other than the legendary Al DiMeola give a bow of his head to him... I truly believe KZfaq is changing the world; slowly removing ALL knowledge from dusty corners, exposing it to the world's minds, and they are reacting by standing ever higher on the shoulders of the WORLD'S giants in so many fields, music happily being one of them.

I’m right widya dave piano: Jan Hammer-DOMi does such elegant work in the higher registers. JD freshened up the old fusion style w/ less is more yet the impression he creates seems much more than the sum of its parts. It’s like he’s messing within the inverse square polyrhythmically in reference to DOMI. So nice watching the new talent beating their heads against the wall of creative giants. Zawinul, Bozzio,Chick,Tony Williams, JoJo. Collier-Cole-and Snarky pup are the saviors outside of pop we’ve been longing for. At 65+ yrs and over 50yrs of paying my fare share in dues. Hearing fresh musicians tearing it up with respect to the power of music totally re-ignites many experiences and complex emotions difficult to express without a life of music. Thank you Universe!

To get that kind of touch and precision at any age on the drums is extraordinary. To see that level of skill in a teen is a wonder to behold, he’s got the hand mechanics down and a unique style with the jungle and drumnbass grooves in there. What a monster! He”ll be able in his future to go any direction he wants! Domi... bravo as well! She picks great drummers. Great pianist... so open.
@francesschaefer4 жыл бұрын
yes indeed! I am a classical pianist but huge jazz fan--she is amazing, she LISTENS as well as has technique and loose, fluid fingers. This may sound silly but her facility reminds me of Art Tatum no lie! Oh yeah she COVERS Oscar Peterson, my favorite jazz pianist since I was about 13 years old. 60 now...just a joy to watch them, so focused, energetic, and enjoying playing!!

DOMI is a gem among gems. It's very rare to find a keyboardist, or any solo musician, able to display such a technical prowess while leaving enough space for the drummer to showcase their own mastery and still do the job of keeping the music interesting and entertaining. She puts just enough in to amaze, but not so much that she overwhelms any part of the delicate performance. Instead, she punctuates and frames JD's beats in a way that turns them into something far more meaningful and expressive. You could teach a whole college around this video.

Man, I haven't been so excited about new music in many years, and following the lead from comments below, I also share the feeling that magnificent things are bubbling underneath the surface of the music scene, ready to burst after decades of surrendering the craft to execs and bean counters. DOMi giving tasteful Zawinul/Hancock vibes in several of her performances and JD Beck amazes with his precise and highly technical delivery, yet so emotionally loaded. Can't get enough of these two young prodigies and am lining up to their first record and live shows
