about the part that starts around 4:30 : as talented as JD is, the thing I'm most jealous of the most is that he could find a musical partner that gets him on that level as DOMi. Musically they were made for each other, and you can hear they inspire each other: when he gets in the zone, she starts her wild solo. And you can see that in other videos of them too: when one of them gets off, the other soon follows. Musicianship at its highest level.

It's amazing that this younger generation has an appreciation for jazz fusion. They think it's cool and I dig it! Back in the day, fusion artists were shit on by the fucking jazz Nazis and musicians would be reticent to explore new sounds with electronics and non-swing beats. It sure fucking helps that the Internet is around for this type of music to exist. Props to all this guys. May jazz fusion continue to live on.

But after I get my fix of polymathematics primarily for my eyes (read: "brain"), secondly for my ears, it's wayyyy cool to connect with "groove" front and center. Not necessarily "swing" per se but the seat of the soul, which is "heart". And now you know the rest of the story;). Enjoy and have a good life!

This makes me smile for multiple reasons. The musicianship is obviously off the charts, but there's also Domi's goofy sound FX, the looks of awe and delight from the audience, the camera person wisely cutting to Mono numerous times, the bass-playing boy (whose name i forget) who is clearly loving and soaking up the incredible music he's hearing, and JD making sure to brush his hair right after he's done playing 😀. So many smiles. 😊

yo. this music is great no doubt. but what i think is brilliant is how that little 6" splash on the snare drum responds to the intensity of his stroke, so that accented hits have a longer ringing sustain (which is quickly choked when the splash falls back on the snare) and the ghostnotes remain choked by the weight of the splash. but that ring is also partly the sustain of the splash for the moment that it's in the air. BRILLIANT!!!!
