1. This is my favorite MTG channel for watching games. You describe things really well, your tonality is great, you play fun and interesting decks, you edit out the nonsense - just fantastic. You're one of the reasons I'm so into MTG now, so thanks and I hope you keep up the great work! 2. Your opponents here were infuriating, but thanks for uploading a game like this anyway. It's cool to not know if you'll win or not in some games. It keeps the stakes alive, and it's really interesting to see your take on what happens regardless. Anyway, love the channel. Much love bruh.

Thanks! Glad you like the channel. I just try to have a good time playing MTG. Based on the some of the comments Ill be uploading more losses, as long as they are interesting to watch. Yeah this was a rough game. Bounce decks like this can be really difficult to play against, especially if you're on a creature strategy. Anyways, thanks for the kind words.

That Multani player has to be one of the worst players I have ever seen, really bad threat assessment. “Man those two guys are drawing lots of cards...better hit that mono white player!”
@CommanderReplay
@CommanderReplay 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah the threat assessment was terrible. Ive talked about it before, poor threat assessment can give and it can take. This would be the take. Thrasios with anything, or sultai anything is just going to be way scarier than what a mono white deck can do. I would have just about traded the kingdom for a white harmonize this game.
@Bloodaegisx

It was insane seeing them just send stupid things your way, I’ll have to rewatch to see how many times your stuff got blown up with actual threats available. This is one of those games where you just couldn’t get a foothold because one guy was hard targeting you, a second was hitting you with collateral mass bounce and then everyone ignored that Damia until it was terminal. Worst part is that Multani clown blows up your lands and then Thrasios bounces the tokens so you just keep getting farther and farther behind..
@stephenhousman6975
@stephenhousman6975 6 жыл бұрын
This is my justification why the Multani player was targeting you. Since you are an angel deck and he didn't put in anything that gives him reach to deal with a lot of flyers. He was blowing up your lands to stop you from casting them. I do agree how ever that he should have at least taken the lotus of the table and zombie infestation at least from the damia player and definitely the rhystic study.

I'm just starting to build Lyra getting back in after 9 years of not playing. Mono white is tough very tough to play. In any format to be a mono white player only takes patience. A lot of good lessons here what I take away is 1 Homeward path is amazing and will keep you in a game 2 Crucible of worlds is necessary in any deck 3 mass removal is key and you can never have too much I'm planning to 8 or 9 mass removal spells. Great job staying in and continuing to stay in the game

I've always wanted an Angel tribal commander, but I do acknowledge that mono-White is the worst mono color for EDH. So, I thought about going with Shalai as the commander and Lyra in the 99 of a GW Angel tribal deck, using just a tinge of G for the two things mono-White cannot do - card draw and ramp. Plus, being in GW lets me put in some of my personal favorite self-protection combos like Privileged Position + Sterling Grove and good removal like Sylvan Reclamation and Calming Verse.
@CommanderReplay
@CommanderReplay 6 жыл бұрын
I didnt do a great job of articulating this in the video...I got caught up in my own hype. But where she will actually probably be the best is in the 99 of a multi color angel deck. Mono white is a hard sell even for me. As you point out it struggles with card draw heavily, so I definintely recommend your plan of going GW. The green will fill in a lot of gaps, things like Sylvan Library, Soul's Majesty....oo I just got myself excited...i know how im going to build SHalai now. You could do a green white reanimator with survival of the fittest and fauna shaman. The cards you mention are also great and worth inclusion. But yeah definintely recommend having a second color in your angel decks and GW will certainly be very strong, plus access to both Sigardas. I think it will be a pretty solid deck. Im planning to do a video on Shalai soon, maybe I can bump it up in the schedule.

@@CommanderReplay IMO maya the anima is the best angel tribal commander. You don't really benefit from having an angel as your commander since they don't have a lot of direct synergy woth each other. Maya gives access to green and most of the cool angels and allows you to cheat them into play at turn 4 or 5.

Hey dude, do you have a foil Lyra yet? I got a foil pre-release version at my pre-release last weekend and I was wondering if you're interested in it. It's still in the sealed pack it came in.
@CommanderReplay
@CommanderReplay 6 жыл бұрын
Na I don't have one yet. Its a little bit pricey for me so Ill probably wait. Highly recommend you sell it soon though if you are not planning to use it. Typically things will start to dwindle in price after release, especially around 30 and 60 markers. Cards like this that have standard appeal, I usually wait for quite a while before purchasing. I generally try not to spend more than $5 on newer cards, although for a legendary foil it might be a bit more. We'll see. Good luck with the card though, I'm sure it looks amazing.

Just thought I'd ask in case you were interested :-) Dude, this game was rough. Games whenever your board gets wiped every turn, and apparently infinite Terastodon triggers seem super frustrating. This is the kind of thing that don't usually happen when you play irl. There you just make agreements with the other underdog player at the table, monogreen in this case, and just go hard the ones going nuts so you balance things around. That's how lotta less powerful decks win lotta times, cause you might not be generating as much value but still pack a punch.

I guess OP was as much frustrated with it as you with his terastodon. Pretty much how our group plays. Fun is restricted. I tried to play Neheb deck couple days ago. The second i put him on the board after 5 turns of nothing but playing 4 mountains and a sol ring - Darksteel mutation. Come on, at least give me a turn to show/try out what the deck can do. PS. @CommanderReplay

Aurelia is still my main lady. Mono white just cant compete with the tools you get from having a second color. Aurelia also allows you to close the game out quickly once you have a few angels, Lyra is a bit slower. But Lyra is still cool, we will see more of her. Hopefully against a more board wipe heavy matchup instead of a mass bounce matchup. This deck is well suited for traditional board wipes.

I'm actually thinking about switching Aurelia Angels over Shalai Angels. I have most of the green cards for it and I'm not really utilizing them at the moment. Just looking to change it up, getting bored of my current paper decks.
@Summon_Aery
@Summon_Aery 6 жыл бұрын
Shalai is super sweet, the pacing and play style of both those decks are really different. I can imagine it being refreshing playing more of a grindy controlling style of angels rather than having to be constantly trying to aggro people down.
@CommanderReplay
@CommanderReplay 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, people that have seen my Aurelia deck know that Aurelia plus 2 or 3 angels is enough to start taking people out of the game. I think Shalai will be good since they wont really know what to expect, and doesn't have the looming threat of haste and double combat steps. So I think it will get less hate, plus the protection from Shalai stops most spot removal. The trade off there is that it takes longer to finish someone off. I know that I'm going to miss the Aurelia sword of the animist interaction also. Anyway, I think it will be fun to change it up. Also I think Angelic Arbiter is going to be a key in the late game for this deck to avoid someone just tooth and nailing or some similar line of play.
@Summon_Aery
@Summon_Aery 6 жыл бұрын
Especially with Helm of the Hosts releasing in DOM Aurelia is going to be even higher on people's hit lists. Shalai is pretty open ended so as you said people don't know what to expect. Even though the deck would be much slower I think you'd have the advantage in the long run if you manage to get your recursion going and are able to protect it. You managed pretty well in the gameplay with her you uploaded earlier this week, and that was without playing Shalai if remember correctly. I think she's kind of a sleeper card right now, and people underestimate her ability.

@CommanderReplay
@CommanderReplay 5 жыл бұрын
Hey so I actually learned a lot from this game. One of the big take aways is that you need to plan for opponents interaction with your stuff. Also I don't think I proper ramp or card draw in place for this deck. But some of the better ways to not get wrecked by opponents interaction is referee's protection, eerie interlude, ghostway, and lapse of certainty. And also make sure you are generating card advantage, i like things like gift of estates, land tax, tithe, and still testing out boreas charger, but also ramping with a good amount of artifact ramp. It still would have been rough fight, but I would at least given myself a chance had I done those things. Check out some of the mono white challenge stuff I did over the past few months. It is possible to build a good mono white deck, you just need to jump through more hoops to figure out our card advantage and ramp. also With a deck like this I think you want to get Lyra down on turn 4. Turn 5 can be slow. So if you get her down nice and early its not too difficult to start putting people in commander damage jeopardy by turn 6 or 7.
@CommanderReplay
@CommanderReplay 5 жыл бұрын
Oh another thing I learned this year also...what did we lose something like 14 permanents over the course of the game? It doesn’t matter what deck you play, if you lose that many permanents you probably won’t win the game. So as discouraging as this video was I wouldn’t read into much too much. The deck needed some work but when you eat that much removal, most likely to lose anyway.
@everettstatz1682

@@CommanderReplay I've never actually thought about anticipating what my opponents would do to my stuff. Usually I just play my stuff and if they remove it then they remove it. But what my original build idea was to essentially focus on using the life gain ability to fuel cards like Well of lost dreams, Angelic Accord, and Angelic Chorus. Along with artifact/equipment for a more combat focused strategy. Just out of curiosity, did you include Felidar Sovereign in your original deck tech or do you try to stray away from cards that have "win the game" abilities?
