Domination: Kerrigan Subdues Zagara Broodmother on Char (Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm)

After Sarah Kerrigan was made human again and captured by Raynor's Raiders, Zagara struck out on her own, establishing herself and her brood in the Acid Marsh on Char. In the absence of the Queen of Blades, Zagara sought to reunite the Swarm under her own leadership. She rallied the now feral zerg of Char to her side, and managed to hold out against the forces of General Horace Warfield. However, her brute tactics prevented her from achieving victory. When Kerrigan returned to Char, Zagara challenged her authority. Kerrigan now appeared human and therefore, in Zagara's eyes, was unworthy to lead the Swarm. Kerrigan was able to control far more zerg than Zagara anticipated however and the broodmother was defeated. Kerrigan was about to kill Zagara, who revealed that she was only doing what she was told: to be strong and to lead by force of will. Zagara said she would follow Kerrigan because her will was strongest. The broodmother was forgiven and joined Kerrigan's forces... Zeratul did have a hatred for Kerrigan or old Kerrigan since it was that one that caused a lot of pain for not only terran but also protoss lives, Kerrigan still had those memorizes which is why she attacked him first because she thought he was there to kill her while being human and no longer having her zerg abilities (to a degree anyway) but Zeratul needed her alive, he needed her to believe that he wasn't there with hostile intentions but she would never let him get a word in otherwise.

One of the things that feels disconnected from the first game is Kerrigan's interactions with Zeratul. Keep in mind Kerrigan was the one that used Zeratul as her pawn and forced him to kill his matriarch. In spite of all the things Zeratul has come to witness and wanted to pass the information to Kerrigan, the animosity and contempt he SHOULD have for her is missing. If anything, HE should be the one beating her down and making her feel helpless, then tell her what she must do afterwards.

the reason why she is beating him up is that she thinks he is there to assasinate her. There is only one person in the universe that she is unwilling to kill and that is Jimmity Raynor, and there is no reason to think Zeratul has good intentions. And it's not like she was ever on friendly terms with the protoss. And why is Zeratul not fighting? At this point he is a firm believer in the Xel'Naga and all else is irrelevant to him (even Aiur, as we see at a later date). He would die to pass on the information he wants to get to her.

im 11 months late but the only reason kerrigan would hate zeratul would be from starcraft 1 around the time when kerrigan had first go infested there is a book that shows how Raynor met Tassadar and Zeratul, rememeber in starcraft 1 she lets him live if he doesnt try to fight the zerg? right after that he becomes friends with the protoss and fights the zerg on char with them Kerrigan was extremely pissed at this hated zeratul and tassadar for this

Filip Dvořák I think the main reason zeratul will not harm her is he saw the prophecy of the end time. Kerrigan is the only one able to stop the fallen one. Zeratul knows this.

Well to be fair it was thanks to Kerrigan he had to kill the dark Templar matriarch and she knows Zeratul in particular hold a great grudge against her. Also that have flighted several times already. So is no wonder she attacked him first. She doesn't knows what are Zeratul's intentions at that point. And Zeratul knows it which is why he showed her the vision cuz he knew if he just tried to talk to her she wouldn't believe him.

She does remember her life as the Queen of Blades She may have forgotten Amon's/Overmind influence and the orders done under that influence but she does remember the mayor fights and if she tries hard enough can sorta remember her feelings like with Abathur her being grossed out and out right hating him as she finds out via mimd reading he was the one who changed her

The writing took a serious downgrade once Blizzard got all popular. Shit, the Zerg used to be just a larva that could parasitically fuse with an organism, take the host's genetic code into itself, and have that attained code passed down through its descendants, allowing them to pupate into versions of previous host organisms. And now it's dinosaurian lizards that eat each other and somehow don't experience drawbacks from eating what amounts to prey animals- like, srsly, imagine spontaneously "evolving" each time you had a meal. Fridge logic, gawd.

I recall the abstract catch-all term for what the primal Zerg ostensibly absorb. It's essentially (heh) a re-branding of "Spirit" with a veneer of science fiction. "survival of the fittest" would end up with an apex predator and a hierarchy of secondary predators and varying orders of prey. In HotS canon, the singular apex predator goes into hibernation and somehow isn't subsequently eaten despite his sudden halting of "darwinian" development. With the time he's allegedly taken off from the jungle games of Zerus, it would figure that he would have at least been consumed by parasites or disease in his indolence. Instead, there's only one primal Zerg like him on the face of the planet and everything else only comes so far as a standard ultralisk in terms of power and psionic ability. This is from Blizzard's model of natural selection on an alien world. It banks on abstractions and people's poor understanding of theoretical science, and on that basis I'd rather have the original definition, not an unnecessary retcon.

The Dialogue is slightly different to my playthrough. I fought Zagara as Primal Queen of Blades Kerrigan and she Revealed to Zagara why she beat her and Explained she had much learn. Both Kerrigan and Zagara want the swarm to become powerful, and "cunning" Zagara seeks many answers from Kerrigan and someday she said she will take over the Swarm so it's most likely she won't turn against Kerrigan until she learns to think like her.

Kerrigan took Zagara as her successor is because of the way she evolved. Relationship between Queen of the Blade and Broodmother is same as Overmind with Cerebrates. However, there are significant differences. Cerebrates are loyal only to the Overmind. If Overmind dies, they would try to resurrect one so they can serve, but Broodmothers are different. If their leader dies, they will fight among themselves in order to become new leader of the swarm while form their own broods. This is the reason why Kerrigan created them in the first place as it will save Zerg from Amon. If you let Cerebrates take charge, they will immediately obey higher power like Amon and Zerg will become his slave, but Broodmothers are not completely obedient to their leader as they intend to lead the swarm themselves. Though Queen of the Blade's original plan is unclear, but rebellious nature of Broodmothers will prevent Amon from taking full control over the Zerg Swarm.

Since the Levians purpose is to be a large organic space ship, parts of it are petrified or hardened to contain things like the Vaccum of space. While Zerg can survive in a vaccum they might still need to respire to a degree.

I have questions. 1) why would the zerg need to name areas of their home planet, they don't need language, just an overriding will. So why have names like bone trench, and the dauntless plateau? Why have language as a whole? You don't see bees calling their hive a home, or a bear calling it's den the slumber pit. Just thought that the ability for zerg to communicate, and communicate in English of all things I think is very interesting. Anyone else? FYI- I just smoked a 1 gram joint of OG Kush and my mind is all over the place right now. First time too. Why the hell is weed treated like a bad thing? As a first timer trying this all I have to say is OMG this stuff is amazing. I mean EVERYTHING just got better in such a small amount of time. Seriously fuck anti-depressants, been taking them for years and they never made my life seem this amazing ever. I'm finally happy again and able to think about cool, and weird stuff again and laugh and smile. YAY!!!! Got to invite my GF's over for a girls night in playing SC and SC2 and WOW. Maybe some D3. Oh and some grandmas boy after we get bored.

This cutscene was stupid. What is she, a dragon ball character now? Add to the fact that Zeratul isn't fighting back, but she's still pummeling him. I thought Kerrigan was supposed to be smarter than that.

Alterius Zhang oh yeah? how about the ending to LotV, After beating amon i thought Kerrigan sacrificed herself only for her to comeback and ruin the sadness of the moment, and she is back to being human, rendering her transformation in starcraft 1 pointless

@@BonkHazard at that point she is a fucking god and can be whatever she wants. Don't get me wrong, I liked the zerg in starcraft 1 much better and hots somehow destroyed the zerg for me.
