Vince Carter is the same not a top 75-100, but will be remembered 100 times more for their impact on the game... Shaquille O’Neal was chosen but I don’t think he should’ve been on the list yet. He had only been in the league 4 years at the time. He hadn’t even made an all nba 1st team yet. Wilkins was a legit all time great already at that point.

Thing is, damned near every NBA player said that his snub was a travesty…Wilkins, Bob McAdoo, Connie Hawkins, and David Thompson should’ve been on there, bottom line!

I thought he was snubbed too. But Nique was always overlooked and disrespected. Early in his career he was stereotyped as just a dunker. They never gave him credit for being a well rounded player. But, they had to make room for some of the early players who founded the league although in my opinion they were not on the level as the guys who played late 60s through 90s.

Let me come up with some candidates: Bill Walton: You could argue Walton doesn't deserve it because for better or worse his injuries just cut too much off his career. I don't think I'd eliminate him though.. because he did win an NBA championship and an MVP and boy.. if you ever did see him play when healthy... Bill Sharman: 12665 points and not much else, mostly in the 50's. Not the most amazing career.. but a good shooter when good shooters were rare I guess. Of course he's on the list because he was a Celtic. Sam Jones: Basically Bill Sharman's replacement and pretty much a similar type of player. 15000+ points over 12 years.. Celtic. James Worthy: Nice consistent scorer. Could pass a little, Rebound a little. Not many flaws.. nothing super exciting. On the list because he was on the Showtime Lakers. Earl Monroe: Stats just don't quite measure up to his reputation. 18.8/3.0/3.9 over 926 games isn't exactly world beating. Kevin McHale: True, he had to compete for both points and rebounds with Bird and Chief.. and he had an absurdly high FG%. But for all that 18ppg/7rpg to me isn't all that special. He did have that one year he averaged 26 a game though. Another Celtic Scottie Pippen: Maybe now you could say Pippen belongs.. but remember this was 1996 and Scottie was only halfway through his career. I still remember all those Bulls games where he'd completely disappear then go on a scoring and rebounding frenzy in garbage time and end up with like 16 pts, 7 reb, 5 ast or something. Of these I think I'd replace either Sharman or Worthy. I'll say Bill Sharman was the worst and most puzzling selection of the bunch. But there's other people besides Dominique that probably deserved in as well. Adrian Dantley.. Bob McAdoo..Walt Bellamy... etc.

Nique is right it was a joke. I remember watching the announcement of the top 50 and was shocked. I know he had a rep for being a ball hog and primarily offense etc but was one of the most exciting players ever and a ferocious dunker back when dunking was very popular. Yea he didn't win a title but plenty of great players didn't because it takes a complete team, good coaching, great players, and a bit of luck and timing to win a title. Put Jordan on those Hawks teams and I bet he wins no titles.
