My favorite most iconic Baltimore icon and sign in Baltimore! My entire life every time I go downtown, or ride the Baltimore Water Taxi on the water, or look out from the inner harbor and Fells point I gaze at that beautiful gold Domino Sugar(s)! sign with happiness in my heart. It's even prettier at night all lit up. So proud of the history and the great workforce there and of course their delicious sugars and remaining a vital part of Baltimore's industry, economy, and heritage. I recently had Cataracts & Glaucoma this past year and kept crying as my vision got worse and I thought I would never be able to see the sign again, until I had wonderful surgery with a wonderful doctor, and the very first thing I did after I healed was go to the inner harbor and look up at the sign and cried...for Happy! I also love seeing the sugar barges when they pass Fort McHenry when I picnic there, so wonderful! One sugar barge a few years back was called the Rainbow! Thank you so much I so very much appreciate this and all of your very insightful and enjoyable Baltimore (and surrounding areas) history videos!

I used to live in Flaghouse Courts Housing Projects on the 11th floor and I used to see that sign every night out of my window

Exactly. Rich guy's huge sign built your memories, and maybe paid your salary or your friends salary. He claims to be a Baltimorean but he is not, he's a rich politician and controller.

Hello, I'm attempting to locate family history about my fathers side of the family. My great grandfather, Lacey Light, worked for a contractor that helped build this factory from 1920-1922. Afterwards he worked in this plant from 1922-1962 as a crane operator. I have his obituary and nothing else, he passed on Dec. 1st 1982 at the age of 85. Any assistance would be appreciated. Edit: After watching the video I've noticed a few strange similarities. I worked on equipment in a food production facility that processed soy hulls in much the same manner, centrifuges and dryer systems. That plant closed last year. Very, very strange!

You can see this from the southern entrance to both the original Harbor Tunnel and the Fort McHenry Tunnel.

It had two brothers - one in Brooklyn New York and one in Boston - both have closed. Amusingly, Domino Baltimore supplies fifteen percent of the US sugar consumption by itself - by ship, train, and even by air - Amazon has three facilities that Domino Baltimore uses - the two closest are in the Port of Baltimore itself and Thurgood Marshall BWI Airport is the other.
