Wonder how many of of those fireworks were made in Maryland? Need to look up the last fireworks factory in Cecil County that blew up.

I remember a few decades ago somebody got the idea of putting a Casino out there. Around that time the politicians were still debating the legalizing of Gambling in the state. It sounded like a good idea but was just another one that went away.

Remember the retail store in later 60s early 70s. Made order then pickup was on ground floor loading dock area. Guessing tube system used to forward the paperwork. Doubt many products ever went through it due to size and weight.

2:40 Buick and Olds did not come out of GM. They later were acquired by GM. Originally started by David Dunbar Buick and Ramsom E. Olds as independent makers.

(July 4th 1828) As we head in to July 4th 2024 I would like to add this; On July 4th 1828 Charles Carroll of Carlton, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence turned the first spade of dirty marking the first mile of the Baltimore and Ohio RR.

I visited this building when The Gateway School, my soon-to-be school was in it (Didn’t know if you knew Gateway, The Hearing and Speech Agency used the space for some time) I may have climbed those exact stairs Grant’s Great, Great Aunt did! The Gateway School moved to Northwest Baltimore in 2003 and has been there ever since.

I have some memorabilia from the old marble bar. Two spare Ampex gauges from the sound board and a chunk of marble that was in the back of the bar apparently removed from the bar years before. I gave the marble piece to my mother years ago she now uses it to roll out pie crust, although she knows where it came from and likes to tell the story that Fred Astaire may have danced on her piece of Baltimore history.

Speaking of Horses, Sports and Maryland, what about a episode on the state sport of Maryland, Jousting. You could do it in the fall at the State Championships. Haven't seen a Joust in over 50 years.

My Uncle Finley was a Brick layer in the 50and part of the 60s. However he did most of his work in the mills at Sparrows Point. Each blast furnace had a Brick lining that had to be replace regularly. Lots of Baltimore brick. Also the B&O used red brick for many of their station platforms.

I was last there in 2002. As I commented in another video (The Baltimore Cemetery) , I have a family connection to the inner harbor. My 2d Great Grandfather owned a ship joining company (Clarke & Co.) at the foot of Henry St, the location of the present day park just behind you in the video.

I have a 2d Great Uncle, William Clarke is buried there. He died in 1906, he was appointed as the Chief Inspector of Electrical wiring for the City of Baltimore in 1902. He was in poor health and died of exultation in 1906 as a result of being over work during the reconstruction after the great fire of 1904. His Wife Margret Smyth also buried along side Wm was a Major play in the Woman's Suffrage movement. She was the secretary for the Baltimore Woman's Suffrage Association in 1896 and then for Woman's Suffrage Association of Maryland in 1901.

I have 28 family members from the 1800s buried in this cemetery. My second Great Grandfather William T Clarke purchase two lots for $20. The first burial in his lots was his one year old son Albert D: 1 Sept 1861, B: 9 Sept 1961. I have the original deed dated 12 Sept with no year recorded, but I think it is safe to assume 1861. William owned a Ship joiner company that in 1861 was located at the foot of Henry St. the present day sight of the Pride of Baltimore Memorial. At present there are 12 family Member in the two lots. Also Benjamin Willis, my 3rd great uncle, has a 2 lot with 16 family members buried there.

I grew up in Baltimore County near Ft Howard. I have been an Os fan since 1966 I was 11 years old. I retired out of the Navy in 2000 here in the Norfolk Va area. I regularly go to Norfolk Tides game, they are the Orioles AAA team. It is my understanding that the tides park was designed by the same people that did Oriole Park at Camden Yards. It dose remind me of Camden yards. Check out the photos on line, and tell me if you will agree.

I remember reading that during World War 2 there were troops stationed in the basement of Sander's store to make sure that the dam(s) remained safe. They were eventually moved to the Maintenance Facility on the hill between the 2 dams. The old Maintenance Facility was torn down and replaced with a new one on the same site.

Wait.. Brunn was hired by McCormick but fired within weeks when they discovered he was Jewish? We're just going to skip over this fact and not mention the irony of McCormick later buying the brand in 1990? Someone should update the Wiki entry for Old Bay.
