@Dobermanator note that I said "music" and not lyrics. Don Henley and Glenn Frey definitely contributed to Hotel California, but it's just that it's in their DNA to take credit for everything concerning "Eagles" even though if it weren't for Felder and Walsh bringing a rock vibe to the Eagles music, "Hotel California" would have never been written.
@mben-david2064
@mben-david2064 Жыл бұрын
@@sonnyadams7894 clearly,you are not a musician,If you are you have never co-written a good song with another person..Felder created the opening chords on a cassette.he didn’t go any further.he didn’t even have the final rhythm.Joe Walsh gave it the faux reggae feel. The ultimate arrangement was a function of Frey and Henley. Run smack about those two all you want,but they are the magicians that repeatedly turned 3 or 4 chords into hit songs.They stacked the trademark Eagles vocals and they wrote the great lyrics. Felder is a great player but he’s a junior varsity writer/arranger compared to Don and Glenn.It’s amazing how this band’s own fans turned on the two guys who made multi-platinum records a given for Eagles. What a bunch of dopes.

Being in the Eagles was a double edged sword for a guy like Don Felder. While he got to be part of timeless albums, songs and performances, he also was overshadowed by larger than life ego's, talents, and personalities of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Joe Walsh. With that much charisma and talent on the stage it was just too easy to take his masterful soloing, riffing and even songwriting for granted.

I saw Don with the eagles in 1975. His solo on one of these nights was my highlight. Bernie was there playing fantastically. I knew Don was one unbelievable guitar player then. He showed it once again here. Wow is all I can say. I will keep trying to learn from you Don. You're incredible and an inspiration. I've seen the eagles 5 times and they blew the roof off every time. Don Felder especially.

Glen Frey said this song was so big it caused Hardening of the Artististry He was fired because he asked Glen and Don how much the band was making touring. They were probably low balling him. He won in court. He's coming in August 2023.with Felder and friends can't wait.

I learned the lead guitar to this song a long long time ago. Even though its not the hardest thing to play or anything, its really difficult to make it sound like Felder does. He has such an amazing touch on the fretboard and his plectrum is absolutely perfect. I noodle around with it occasionally. Some bands I've been in wanted to do the song just because I can play it, but I've always said no because first off I don't wanna make an ass of myself, and second, the Eagles are the stingiest group of litigation happy musicians on the planet. You know? You can play Bob Segers stuff til your fingers fall off and I just love Drew Abbott's playing! Theres another guy with really special fingers!

Absolute garbage. He can’t sing for shit😂😂😂😂😂. Henley is the most talented by far. Epic vocalist, epic song writer, plays drums and a little guitar while he singing like noone can.. thats why he’s more successful as a solo artist than ALL of them combines!

I read Don Felder’s book, it was very interesting and let’s just say although he was devastated when he was kicked out of the band, it had to have been the best thing for him in the long run. The Eagles are remarkable, but what a toxic atmosphere he had to endure. My take is that Henley and Frey had a “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer” relationship, had massive egos, and they were both resentful (jealous?) of Mr Felder’s talent and wanted him kept directly under their thumbs.

Eagles existed for two and a half platinum albums before Felder came along, they';re doing fine without him. These melodies were not written by Felder. We all know who did write them. Tell me what he did to make "Take It Easy " and "Witchy Woman" hits. I'll wait.

@@therealpatriarchy I was responding to someone who said there are no Eagles without Felder, So I want to know how they did so well without him from 1972-74. Felder created the basic guitar part for "Hotel California"" but he did not arrange it or create the melody or lyrics. I'm guessing you aren't a musician. I teach songwriting and arranging.Btw, HC is NOT their best selling single. Might wanna check with NARAS about that.

@@derhandtrommler Firing Felder was nothing more than heat-of-the-moment rashness caused by ego and irrational dominance. They had a lucky break finding him and all knew it. No one on earth is more capable and deserving of the post. They still have time to rectify this to their own immense benefit.

Even though I wasn’t alive when the song came out (I was born in 2000), I can still appreciate the masterpiece that is this song and the legendary guitar work of not only Felder but Joe Walsh too. Also I always forget that Don Felder can actually sing too. Although he never got much of an opportunity to while he was in the Eagles
