To all those who voice criticism of Hvorotovsky-I am 73 years old and I have NEVER heard a baritone this good. You can live in hope, but you will never hear the like of this again.

That was very, very lovely. Renee Fleming's voice sounds just as fresh and crystal clear ethereal as it did before she slimmed down and boy is she a beauty. Hvorostovsky was a baritone of extraordinary beauty and power. His looks were a major plus. It is a terrible loss that he died so young. Mil gracias por compartir este gema con nosotros.

It’s easy to forget how effortlessly Fleming brought real emotion and humanity to her signing- Of course others had that quality but combine that with her top tier sound makes for a unique presentation. I always like listening to her and comps those who might cavil to other Greta singers she alwasy sounds fresh but I contrived as well as beautiful. This who cavil about her vibrato etc overlook she is the anodyne to analytical robotic computer generated perfect pitch singing . My 2 year old, seriously, could pick her sound out from a variety of women doing this duet, including Bartoli. One can make the case bartoli has the dynamics, native Italian and drama, but nobody speak/sings to the audience quiet like l Fleming when it comes to la cI darem…..

Hvorostovsky and Flemming definitely out-perform Terfel and Bartolli in this duet. Bartoli slows down the tempo at every entry; maybe she's paid by the minute.

@tagoreee I agree! I love her voice to death, and she usually suits Verdi and Strauss rep. pretty well, but Mozart should NOT be scoopy. Hvorostovsky has a brilliant voice. I have a recording of him in a Rimsky-Korsakov opera, and I LOVE him.

@saxamaphoneguy1 I love that everyone says this. Who says you can't scoop a little in Mozart? I mean seriously, where is the manual in which it says "THIS is how you sing Mozart and this is how NOT to sing Mozart"? Does anyone really know exactly how singers of the 18th century sang every note? Who is the authority on this? Everyone automatically thinks "Mozart = THIS way" but just where do we get the authority to say that? Just a thought... If u have the answer, I'm genuinely curious...
