Don McLean is a Grammy award honoree, a Songwriter Hall of Fame member, a BBC Lifetime Achievement award recipient, and his smash hit “American Pie” resides in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry and was named by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA) a top 5 song of the 20th Century. A New York native, Don McLean is one of the most revered and respected songwriters in American history. Don McLean’s incredible legacy spans music from virtually every genre including blues, country, folk and of course, pop. In addition to entertaining tens of millions of fans for six decades, Don McLean has influenced a variety of icons in the music world including such notables as George Michael, Madonna, Garth Brooks, Tupac Shakur and Elvis among many others. My 4 yr old son would sing to this song .. or play with his toys and sings what he remembers.. such a great song.

Я заранее извиняюсь перед всеми англоязычными людьми. Перевести, если будет желание, не будет проблемы. Я знаю, что никогда не услышу и не увижу его в живую. Ему очень много лет, а я живу в Сибири и получаю столько, что даже на заветную мечту мне никогда не хватит. Но Дон ИМХО это один из людей которых можно назвать честью, совестью и мудростью эпохи. Наравне с Черчилем и Шевчуком. Дай Бог Вам долгих лет! Низкий поклон за творчество!!!!

So...fifth grade in 1971-1972. We would have indoor recess often during the winter months (Ohio). Our homeroom teacher had a record player in the classroom and we were allowed to bring in our own 45s to play. Some friends and I would eat our lunch in the stairwell close by so we could get back to the room before the kids from the cafeteria. Then we were able to play American Pie first on the record player. As I recall nearly everyday for sometime. At the time we didn't realize the history in the lyrics but simply thought it was a cool song.

on 5th grade out teacher handed out the words to this song and helped us understand the meaning of each verse as we discussed the nidden meaning. nt just the mode inspired us as kids but yet... To see him now and share thus w/ our younger generations might help ... Moving this world in the right direction °•`\\... thanks for sharing your thoughts . congrads to utube to keeping music alive!

Thank you for this great performance of a song that embodies us all in one way or another. And yes, I took my guitar off the stand next to my laptop and strummed along, feeling like I was right there. And it felt surreal, like an incredible bucket list item. thank you so much for this, what pretty acoustic version! the Don McLean voice was different, with high tones, natural change, the time goes on... but still the same tru voice, sincery, singing his own true. for me this version, this, interpretation, sound's like a fresh air for this classic.
