A very soulful rendition of Don's famous song "Vincent (Starry Starry Night)" from the 615 Hideaway stage in Nashville.

Don McLean's voice seems scarred with age and living, and it makes this song that much more beautiful, touching, and deep. It brought tears to my eyes. Antonin Artaud called Vincent Van Gogh the man suicided by society. And Don McLean wrote a most beautiful song in tribute to him. And Starry Night is one of my very favorite paintings ever ... Thank you for this video.

Your stories during the interview were fascinating. You and Joe definitely clicked. I could have listened to your stories all night. Best wishes to you and your family. Stay well. Stay safe. My brother , William Vincent Anderson was found in his semi truck deceased at the age of 34. From a cerebral hemorrhage. It was 1993. One of the cassette tapes found in his semi was your greatest hits album. I still have it and I consider this his song and I cry every time. Beautiful ageless song. ❤️

What is sad to me is that I was born in that gap in the music, being 10 years old when Woodstock happened, and somehow missed Zeppelin coming out. I only had sisters, so I do remember "Red Rubber Ball" and "Windy" and such. I remember American Pie, although I was young. My brother-in-law came back from fighting in Korea, and turned me on to you, Don, and the Beatles, (although my sisters had to take me to see the movies "Hard days Night". What I was trying to day before I started writing this book was sorry I missed much of your. music, hopefully you'll come to Dallas sometime. Vincent has quickly become one of my favorites. Also, rest in peace, Dusty Hill, who passed away 😢 yesterday. Thanks, Don.

Happy birthday Don! I wish you all the best in your professional and private life! May all your wishes come true. You have given the world amazing gifts: your voice, your creativity, wit, imagination and the urge to chase our dreams! In short- you have given yourself and that's not something one can find just round a corner. You have raised many smiles but also many tears have slipped on so many faces. That are signs which indicate what a great artist/man you are! How a great day and do whatever you want to do! Your fans are always beside you.

I saw you three times in Coolangatta/Tweed over a 30 year span. On the last occasion, about 8 years ago now, I took a woman who'd NEVER been to a concert in her life, and she only heard Vincent for the first time when I suggested it before I bought the tickets. Needless to say, you made an impression. I am heartbroken that you may not ever tour again, but such is the price of loving something so much that you dare not see it end. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

Starry, starry night Paint your palette blue and gray Look out on a summer's day With eyes that know the darkness in my soul Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils Catch the breeze and the winter chills In colors on the snowy, linen land Now, I understand what you tried to say to me And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free They would not listen, they did not know how Perhaps they'll listen now Starry, starry night Flaming flowers that brightly blaze Swirling clouds in violet haze Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue Colors changing hue Morning fields of amber grain Weathered faces lined in pain Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen, they did not know how Perhaps they'll listen now For they could not love you But still your love was true And when no hope was left inside On that starry, starry night You took your life as lovers often do But I could have told you, Vincent This world was never meant for one As beautiful as you Starry, starry night Portraits hung in empty halls Frameless heads on nameless walls With eyes that watch the world and can't forget Like the strangers that you've met The ragged men in ragged clothes The silver thorn of bloody rose Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow Now, I think I know what you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen, they're not listening still Perhaps they never will
