I've never heard tabs before. In Indiana and South Carolina I've only ever heard and said tags. My mom got a ticket in SC for expired tags. That's how it was even worded on the ticket.

We spent 5 nights on Oahu at Wakiki, 5 nights on big island of Hawaii, and 5 nights on Maui. I think Maui was our favorite.

Texas calls it "TAGS" We were there for our Honeymoon in 1990 and spent half our time in Oahu and Maui with one day on the Big Island and one day on Lanai. 10 day all together it was awesome!

We really enjoyed the Hawaiian cruise by NCL in May! Great weather! You get to see several islands!

We stayed 2 blocks back for a fraction of the nightly rate. And like you said, we were just there to sleep and spent rest of time exploring the island. We had the misfortune of being there during a hurricane so limited us the one day the hurricane was hitting.

My daughter went to Kuai with the family. She loved it

I had gone to Oahu back when I was in 5th grade with my mom and sister. We got to see the Pearl Harbor, hang out on the beach, shopping, we got Moo-Moos and wore them to a Luau. We did get to fly on a 747 first class and got to go upstairs lounge in the plane. (Back when 747's were a novelty). My dad was a pilot for United back then and he had a month of flights to and from Hawaii and brought back cases of pineapples. Just before my senior year at Utah State, my folks and I went to Hawaii with their friends, we stayed at the Ilikai (where they filmed Steve Mcgarrett on the balcony in the opening of Hawaii 5-0). We went from JFK to La, stayed overnight, then flew to Hawaii from there. That made a big difference. We spent a few days in Honolulu then flew to the big Island and on the day, we left, we drove around the island, that was really neat. When you mentioned about the artifacts, I thought of the Brady Bunch episode when they went to Hawaii and the boys found that doll. I would check and make sure the tags and plates were current, but it is on the rental company to keep all their vehicles up to date. They should have made sure it was not out of date before renting it to you.

Must have been some awesome traveling journey tropical oasis (other then *Cheri's passion of Florida) ..... Nice to see the two of you expanding your trips together 💯. I guess the cost of living, touristing & just stepping on one or two of the bigger islands is a thought apparative conclusion. Cannot wait for more conclusive details 🎉. ☮️✌️

Oahu especially Waikiki is for those that love to shop and party, its also more family friendly as the Waikiki beaches have calm surf, this is the most popular and populated island. Kauai is great for couples in love as its quiet except the roosters, restaurants close early and nightclubs are nonexistent, but the scenery is like no other place on earth- its stunning. Maui is Amazing and Kaanapali is open However Lahaina is gone Maui in general is like the Mama bear, just right. it's gorgeous and there is plenty to see and do. Hana is a great drive but plan on a full day and do start early. Kihei is the largest town with lots of vacation rentals and 10 miles of beach parks.

I always recommend a few days, up to a week in Honolulu, then go to another island to get out of the city/tourist vibe. Kauai is my favorite.

You have to see Kauai! Do a helicopter ride. The Napoli coast is simply stunning!!!

Good list. My home base is Waipahu on Oahu while we aren’t RVing the Mainland and I’ve lived on Oahu my whole life. Kauai is a great island to visit. Please do not touch any of the animals especially the sea lion Urma. You will be arrested and slapped with a very heavy fine. Don’t jaywalk. I am a retired Honolulu police officer and one of the biggest things the department wants their officers to give is jaywalking citations. It because we’ve had an extreme amount of pedestrians killed over the years while crossing the street. Please don’t be tempted to climb over any wall at any scenic point to get a better selfie. There is a reason why that fence or railing is there. Don’t waste your money at the expensive fine dining restaurants you get better food and more for your money from the hole in the wall restaurants around the island. Don’t overdress. If you are wearing dress pants you’re over dressed. There is racism in the state, a lot of locals don’t like tourists so always be aware. We have crime like any other city here so don’t be complacent. We may not have as much gun violence but we do have a lot of assaults and robberies. There actually is no nudity allowed at any beach on any island lawfully so if someone complains you will be cited and can be arrested. The is a lot of sites and activities here so bring a lot of money because the costs of those activities aren’t cheap and if your do find a cheap activity it’s most likely a scam. Yes we have scammers here too looking to victimize tourists. Good luck and Aloha.

Good thing I was over in the late 50's and late 60's (army brat) because my wife doesn't fly so a trip there is out of the question. You're still young yet, enjoy the journey. life.

Kauai is the best. Its called the garden island for a reason. Stunning scenery, gorgeous beaches waterfalls and hikes. We've been there 3 times and Maui twice. Next time we're checking out the big island.

We paid $550 a night for our condo in Maui in August for 16 days but we had ocean front and it was a 3 bedroom (5 people) Also our condo did not have air conditioning and it was warm in the afternoon but the trade winds were sufficient and we are air conditioning people

Oh yeah the most beautiful part of Oahu is the north shore and the places where the locals go. We did the tourist thing in our honeymoon but we go every ten years to celebrate anniversary and we never stay in Waikiki. Maui and Kauai are the most beautiful islands. Go back and explore them soon!
