Thanks Harry! I’ve not actually tried anything raw yet, I always worry about the size changing after their first wash! But I bet they look good after you’ve had them a few years.

If you can get to London, I’d recommend Blackhorse lane ateliers for raw denim. Their shop is at King’s Cross. Super helpful staff and they’ll tailor to fit

I agree on leather jacket and boots, they must be made with good leather and sound construction, jeans though I'm not so sure anymore, selvedge has its place but they don't really make it last longer than non selvedge jeans while just being a selvedge will easily double the pricetag, so if I have to choose mid weight denim 13-16oz available in selvedge or non selvedge, I will choose non selvedge option, while heavyweight denim usually only available in selvedge

Fair point about the jeans! I have found some cheaper ones that last me years as well. I do love the uniqueness you can get from Selvedge though!

As someone with psoriatic arthritis, my fingers aren’t as limber as normal so poor quality zippers, buttons and fastenings on clothing, shoes and accessories really can be a nightmare when getting dressed during the middle of a flare-up. So I totally agree with you about spending more for higher quality hardware and finishings being an important issue!

These days if you're in the market for Dr. Martens, you're already 90% of the way there to a pair of Thursdays. You might as well spend just slightly more for signficantly better quality and repairability since Thursdays all use a goodyear welt. Dr. Martens also use a goodyear welt on their higher end boots, but the outsole is melted to the midsole making it a huge pain for cobblers to repair once they wear out. Most cobblers will not resole Dr. Martens since it's simply not economical to do so.
@JamesLeung

Very true 👍 Dr Martens seem very overpriced these days when you consider how many quality boots are around the same price range.

On t-shirts,I treat them in the same way I do underwear. If they get sweaty or otherwise uncomfortable, I'll switch them out. In the summer I might go through 1-3 t-shirts in a day. I can't justify spending more on something I go through so quickly.

I think you should spend more on the jacket/coat…because you’re more likely to keep for longer…..buy Japanese manufactured garments.

T-shirts over $90 CAD, and hoodies over $150 CAD are really not worth it. I purchased a $300 Lumiere's hoodie a while back, and while the cut, fabric and quality are nice, the cuffs are giving out just like any other hoodie on the market. Spending more than this is seriously pointless because hoodies and shirts will always be made the same. I work at a skate store these days, we get Nike and NikeSB and I can vouch that the hoodie quality is great. Same with shirts. On the other hand I've been wearing champion hoodies, and gildan shirts for years and they have always done the trick. Never chintz out on jackets otherwise as they are pieces of clothing that vary in fit and style.
@JamesLeung
@JamesLeung 8 ай бұрын
Yeah I know what you mean. I don’t mind paying higher end if I know the pieces are better quality. But I think it gets to a point where the quality is so good that if you pay any more than it’s just for the name on the label! Thanks for watching

Eh, I have uniqlo selvede denim in black and the fabric is literally the exact same as in my diesel jeans that i paid my arm for. Good quality and the cost is acceptable. The U-Tee is more durable than most of my expensive T-shirts. Also a 80€ weekday puffer seems to be holding up quite well with nothing to complain except the lack of zipped pockets. I would advice against overspending on "investment pieces". They are clothes after all and will get worn out over time. Most people watching are aveage blue collar Daves and are not going to put almost a days salary on a T-shirt. Thats just delusional. I find it hypocritical to tell people to buy expensive leather boots, but still advertise cheaply made polyurethane coated leather adidas or nike or -insert big brand name- sneakers in other videos. To put it short: There is so many brands that make good quality everyday pieces at affordable prices. Some of which are made in EU and come on sale quite often. The title is outright misleading.
@JamesLeung
@JamesLeung 10 ай бұрын
I actually agree with you on most of this (see my video from 2 weeks ago if you’re interested). Although I’d say daily beater sneakers and high quality leather boots that will last 10+ years are not really comparable.
