Contrary to the bankers claiming digital payments are replacing cash, yet more evidence is showing that use of cash is on the RISE! We look at data from New Zealand based on a recent survey as the Reserve Bank there announces pilots to make access to cash easier.
The trend of rising cash use was in fact confirmed recently by the RBA too, though their surveys are just not up to the New Zealand standard, and of course using cash more is also rising in the UK.
Not only is the ongoing use of cash a human right, a protection of freedom, and cheaper than other payment means, but it is also proving to assist households with their budgetting. Do not believe the bankers' BS...

I got the 3rd degree interrogation in an unexpected phone call from RaboBank demanding to know why I haven’t used a Savings Account with them for the last 6 months. Apparently, I have no right to just leave the modest deposit there untouched. I was read the Anti-Terrorism Act and asked if I understood it - I kid you not! When I asked what would happen if I refused to answer their intrusive questions, the RaboBank guy said that then RaboBank would freeze my funds so I had no access to them until I submitted to providing acceptable answers. If I refused to continue not to co-operate, then RaboBank would transfer my deposited money to the Government, who would then confiscate it. I was astonished. One of the questions was what I was going to use the money for and I had to make up a reason as saying just leaving the modest deposit there for a rainy day, was not considered acceptable. This dystopian phone call happened about 2 weeks ago.

I’m seeing a lot more use of cash we were close to 50% last night at work. People are using it as a budgeting strategy, to make sure they’re sticking to their allocated budget for a night out but only carrying it in cash.

Godfrey Bloom who has a channel in UK recently posted that banks are slowing down some substantial withdrawals, without a good excuse, suggesting they may have liquidity problems. It is annoying to see just one or two cash self serves among many card only at the local Coles, causing users to line up.

It was a huge mistake when we dropped wholesale's tax in 2000 where the Government could not know it was I who bought one of the sex dolls sold in Australia. They could know how many were sold to retailers. And that ought to be enough info.

Be careful storing cash ppl. Rats ate into $700 worth of $50 notes I had. Lucky I found in time I could have lost everything. They don’t mess around.

I'm seeing more cash in NZ. Today a clerk at Bunnings even asked if I was paying with cash or card, which considering we've had eftpos forty odd years is a rare thing these days.

Easiest way to budget is with cash. 30yr ago when I had a young family we had lablelled envelopes with cash for weekly spending. Simple and effective.

I've got 2 more months until I knock out my mortgage. When that happens I'm ditching the credit card and going to cash only budgets with the wife. If I have to pay bills I'll go to the post office when I'm at work for some exercise. Stuff em!

Is there any reason why a Law can not be written where if I use a Debit Card at Woolworths (the Vendor) they get paid by the Bank but Woolworths does not know who I am? This would be the same as using CASH. I still get a receipt and I can still use the receipt to take something back for a refund.

no . woolworths in new zealand is tracking your car in there car park , business in new zealand going nuts on police state , even more than the government . unless the government is getting business to do their dirty work . either way new zealand is going full on police state , and a lot of people thought SHE was bad

We are finding more young professionals and trade people paying cash in our business. I’ve struck numerous conversations as to why and most people respond with my “loan/mortgage broker”. Young people applying for home loans or trade vehicle loans are being judged on what they spend by their prospective lenders. We have also found people don’t like paying the fees to use their money but expect our business to pay the fees. Lastly one tradie was told he couldn’t finance his new vehicle as the financier thought he was too much of a risk. He had dinner with his partner at the pub once a week and purchased a box of beers for his workers each week. He doesn’t drink. Let that sink in.

in new zealand it hard to find any body who dose not get some sort of government hand out . from dole up to very large tax advantage . the government will only pay with bank transfer , which will soon be a cbdc

Gather that the costs are s ignificantly lower in terms of counting, transport, secure, (insert any transaction here). No surprises that the banks want to get rid of it. This problem/fight will no go away.

If the RBA was successful in banning CASH and NZ decided not to go cashless, my question is, being Aussies would it be wise to buy NZ dollars to use as form of currency to buy and sell products in Australia or on the internet. Would that even work?

Good report Martin. The RBA needs to do what tax payers are shelling out for. There are too many conflicts of interest in the whole scheme. Any fool can see it.

Dont just use cash, if you can barter with others do it. Use many alternatives to bankers credit and debt, use gold and silver, barter and other means besides cash. Central bankers and gov will ultimately destroy the economy by their policies of credit expansion which is trapping society into debt slavery. Recession happens because there is no cash circulation within the economy and most are trapped in debt mortgages and credit cards debt.
