Self inflicted wound. You might want to blame the material I was pushing and say “see that material is too hard on these machines”. But that’s not the cause of this breakdown. It’s a mistake that I made back doing maintenance months ago. It surfaced during “king of the mountain” episode. Fix it and keep on dozing!

I blame the rocks for breaking the mis assembling of reduction gears assembly 🤣 j/k but it’s good philosophy 🤷🏻‍♂️ you did a good fix and saved some money.

Great repair video! I just ordered one of these so been watching your dozer videos in depth to learn about the maintenance and also what typically causes trouble. Trying to avoid these types of repairs as much as possible 😊 I was thinking about ordering the brushless drive system from the same supplier that you ordered your wide tracks from. But considering the price, I think I will use it with the brushed setup for a while. Seems to do quite well as it is as long as you check that bolts are tight and lube the planetary drives with some good grease. How do you like this dozer in general?

It’s one of my favorite machines in the fleet. Despite some trouble with the drives I will keep it operational. It’s the best for grading roads and it moves a ton of material. You won’t be disappointed!

This unit takes grease not oil and it still has plenty in there.

I recommend pulling the transmission down before running it at all the hub holding ring bolts were loose and one the heads was sheared off on mine (5 mins of use) luckily I decided to wait on running it further until I installed the lights

Yeah these things like to get loose bolts. Especially from the factory. But even during use you got to keep an eye on em. The gears don’t have the best mesh for the high torque they are put under. Kinda sloppy in there for my taste. But it still has giving me a lot of run time with a decent amount of maintenance.

@@digitrc Apon reinspection the second last sun gear carrier is toast I need to find a new one possibly both sides I assume it wasn't assemled correctly at the factory I also discovered a pin hole in the hydraulic tank too

@@awesomusmaximus3766 that’s a bummer. Even the smallest of leaks can create an oily mess! There is another drive out there that is a brushless gear reduction unit for this dozer but I’m not sure how good it is. I don’t have any experience with it.

Different brake same area (drive) different side then I had been having issues with before. All my fault though🤦‍♂️.

Crazy how something so minute can cause so much headache. BTW, wondering if filing down the edges a smidge on the primary wheel will release the track as it transitions through the gear? Just a thought

That would probably help. This is still fairly new as far as run time goes for that track so I think as long as it’s not causing any issue’s I’ll let it wear in some more. It does not seem to be causing any bind or the track slap would be much worse. Do you think it might cause me some issues?

@@digitrc yah, If it’s that new I’d think to let it wear some more, the dirt will act like sandpaper to take of the edge some.. maybe by spring if it’s still grabbing a little coaxing might help, it will stretch a little quicker I’d think too, but then again it’s like tightening down a bearing to much can cause an issue as well, small rocks will put that much more strain on the gears and motor being tight with no give, just my opinion tho..

@@bannanapancake that’s a good point about the rocks and no give. The nice thing about this configuration is I can see if most rocks caught will be an issue by the time it reaches the front or rear idler wheel. I think I’ll let it run in and like you said, if by spring it’s still tight then I’ll look into honing it down a little bit. Tension will be the same either way. That’s why I went with the extra link when I installed it so that the tension wasn’t so high do too that concern of wear on the drive. Thanks for talking it through with me! I appreciate it.

@@vbdino you Can removed the WA470 wheel in easilly But you Can't remove the JDM Earth mover 870k wheel easilly Because All screws on the wheels very small 4me i Can't do it l😂l

@@The-Warm-voice1359 I tried it just to wash the tire before storing for the winter but even with the hub loosen, it would not come off easy so I didn’t wont to end up with more trouble to reinstall and stop trying.

you brole it because your tracks are way to tight . putting pressure on the gear drive. . there not ment to be tight at all but lose with some slack

This broke because I put it back together wrong and missed the pin holes 🤦‍♂️ so the pins were rubbing the gear till they were gone. I really don’t have a lot of tension on these. I put an extra link in to make it looser.
