What I don't like about this video is that it sounds like you don't have either of these laptops and it doesn't sound like you've even used them once. Specs aren't everything which is what you're making it sound like

The parts are mostly the same and commodity (CPU, GPU, memory, screens). He's pointing out that HP and Dell have very similarly spec'd machines with very similar parts, but the HP is about 33% less than the Dell.

This machine is way too expensive. But I do love the design. They also don’t mention how many Nits of brightness if choose oled. I think just it is overpriced. Also what do you think about zenbook oled 2024 ?

What is even more important : does the screen flicker? According to Notebookcheck review of the XPS-based dell precision 5680 from 2023, the top of the tops, has the 60hz flickering screen. It is unbelivable that in so expensive pro-stuff Dell puts such a poor screens.

For me the biggest disadvantage of the Omen 14 is the OLED panel. They just burn so fast that you'll have to replace the display after 3 years of use. Give me microled or just IPS

Dell is way better quality and feel over the omen tbh can’t even really compare.

This seems most relevant to people who want to game. Personally, I wouldn't ever buy an XPS thinking I'm going to do any serious gaming given the chassis and cooling limitation. Dell being a bit more expensive on launch is par for the course though. I actually would prefer the non-OLED screen for better battery life and they're brighter overall, no risk of burn-in if I'm coding with lots of static elements. I regularly receive the $120 off a $599 or more purchase on my Amex card, combined with cashback sites (occasionally hit 10 - 15%) and I could justify the XPS. My last two HP Spectre's (13t/Haswell based) from 2013 had an early motherboard failure, but was replaced under warranty. My 2017 Spectre (15t/Kaby Lake?) had a motherboard failure just outside the warranty window. Current XPS from 2021 (Tiger Lake) is doing fine. Might just be my luck, but HP always feels a bit cheaper unless it's their business line. Edit: Forgot about XPS new capacitive function keys and touchpad. HARD PASS. Will look elsewhere...probably wait for Zen5 and/or Arrow Lake.

Build quality and aesthetics on the Dell more than make up for the price difference. The razer blade and these Dell XPS are the best looking laptops there are.

@@tomaszargentynczyk8635 it isn't cheaper, it would be about the same as the dell for the specs. Most people watching this video are shopping for specifically a windows laptop to run many things like games and non-Apple specific apps (like engineering software).
