I think your team should update that site more often. And some deal links aren't the best, as example, for 99% customers, Legion pro 5i from Lenovo US will cost lot less now than B&H you linked to.

Quick summary : Ryzen 8000 is basically ryzen 7000 Intel 14th is basically 13th Intel core ultra's igpu is basically ryzen 7040 igpu (same performance)

Core Ultra can be really attractive to quite a lot of people though. Its iGPU performance is far better than anything Intel has ever offered in the integrated graphics scene, and the new core architecture seems like it's very efficient, compared to the old Core i3/i5/i7/i9 CPUs.

No es lo mismo, el ryzen 8000 va a venir con mas velocidad de memoria de 6400MHz a 7500MHz y de 45W TDP baja a 15W, mas eficiencia, la iGPU tambien se beneficia de la velocidad de la RAM. Superando de 8 horas a 12 horas que es ideal para trabajos de productividad.

Yeah, 100% definitely agree with this video. More OLED and MiniLED screen options this year is great to see but with no Ryzen 8000HX CPUs yet and other CPUs and GPUs really just refreshes, its definitely tough to otherwise justify buying a 2024 laptop.

Yeap, and the best part is that I can just buy the Scar 16 2024 panel and install it in my Scar 16 2023 and essentially have the same laptop for around 200 USD.

same here mate I discovered this channel like 3 years ago, and I remember being obsessed with wanting a Legion 5 Pro(2022) variant with a 3060 on it. But here I am.. Guess it ain't for everyone.

#5 - Not many people probably knows about this, but since AMD released FSR the community have already developed an FSR mod which give you basically free fps in your old laptop with old GPUs (like RTX 2000s/3000s, anything below isn't really preferred). I know this because few months ago I was searching for a new laptop (a replacement to my Legion 5 Pro 3060 that I bought 2 years ago) because games have been increasingly demanding, but thanks to this mod it basically extended the lifespan of my aging laptop for like another year or 2. FSR3.1 is also coming this year (integrated into some of the newer titles).

If you've got an Intel 11th gen/newer, or Ryzen 5000 series/newer laptop, I doubt they need to be replaced at all. Just my opinion.

If you play AAA games like me you will start to notice that games are catching up with the laptop hardware recently especially my laptop's specs (eg. Horizon FW in my laptop can't consistently keep the fps on 60 average - w/o framegen but with DLSS). I fear that I won't be able to run Ghost of Tsushima aswell. If you play AA or Indie titles then true, you're good for atleast 2 - 5 years more.

Hello Jarrod I would love to know what you think about snagging a 3060 model in this day and age? I have been watching your videos since 2021 and you have always said that the 3060 was the sweet spot for gaming back until the 4000 series came around. The prices for the 2023 model here are bad and what's even shocking is that the older 2022 and even 2021 models for godsake is still terrible. Literally 1000+$ for an rtx 3060. I still haven't bought a laptop but I feel like my current non gaming one will die out very soon. @@JarrodsTech

@@jupiteruniverse8683I have 3060 HP Omen. It was purchased two years back for 1300 USD. It still works like new. I only play Halo Infinite which it is capable of running at medium settings and high enough frame rates. Game runs well. Heating well controlled. Gaming on a budget. It has only 6 GB VRAM so it cannot run modern heavy graphic titles at fancier high or ultra graphics settings. But still , considering that is a luxury as is gaming in itself, 3060 is alright and I believe need not to spend more, unless one is a professional and does competitive gaming. Medium graphics also look beautiful. If you only have to play games then better get a desktop than a gaming laptop, better performance at lower price.

I ended up buying an HP Omen 16 (2021) with i7 11g and RTX 3070 in 2024. 😂 Plays everything I throw at it at Medium/High settings in 1080p/1440p on average.

Can you suggest me something, please: Which is better for me "Lenovo LOQ Laptop, 16 i7" or "Acer Nitro 5 i9"? ...For my wife if she is civil engineer that is use programs like Photoshop, InDesign and other graphic/scheme drawing software. Screen colors are important for here too. She says that Lenovo is good but 512Gb could be not enough, so I am watching between those two that you already viewed recently. Well, about me, I can only play some not very heavy games like platformers or RPG games like Diablo 3. If we have Acer in our nearest shop, should we catch it or it will be better to hunt that Lenovo in online shop, because we haven't it in our Province(Canada).

@@D4RKCOMETPLAYSThose look nice... screen is great, but seems that games benchmark lower than others with the same specs is why I didn't like it. I don't know if its they use lower wattage, or it just has to throttle more for cooling, but there is always a draw back to being too thin and light when you need more cooling.

@@D4RKCOMETPLAYS That's true, but a 4090 in such a thin chasis is going to perform horrendously and at a reduced factory speed due to thermal throttling. Don't buy 4090 laptops, use a lower powered GPU like 4070 instead.

I got a 2022 Dash F15 with the 12th Gen i7 12650H and an RTX3050 gpu with 16gb DDR5 (4800). Should I consider something with a 4060-4070 with 13th gen Intel? I have a 2023 Asus Rog Flow x16 on the way now. I'm upgrading it with better harddrive and more RAM. It has the RTX 4060. My question now is, should I buy the XG Mobile 3080 version, or just "future proof" and go for the obscenely expensive 4090 right away? Or, should I just wait for a newer version to hit the scene? What do you guys think?

That's the cheapest I've heard about it so far, it's still higher than other slim 4070 laptops, but yeah not bad for the 7i.

Gaming Laptops have improved so they don't die out as they use to buy getting 'cooked'. But Gaming Laptops seem to have motherboard issues to this date. I still think though, that normal notebooks and thin and light laptops are the better choice for most people. Gaming Laptops have rather become very good, but they are clumsy machines and still niche. More a portable desktop. Now even laptops are old school and tablets and smartphones, and may be in future VR are going to be the dominant devices for the masses. Otherwise enthusiasts still build custom PCs.

I am waiting for laptops coming with eGPU like the Asus Rog Flow. I saw that in China people are using the Lenovo Thinkbook as laptop and connects external GPUs through the Pcie of the laptop. So i am waiting for that to become more professional

Hi Jarrod, what laptop would you recommend for long term use, I have 2 options one of them is a Lenovo legion 5 pro with 4060 and other is Lenovo legion 5 pro with 3070. The 4060 one is noticeably more expensive. I want to use my laptop primarily for gaming and a little bit of blender as well.

3070 is 15-20% faster in 1440p depending on CPU and laptop. also better 1% lows.

I recently bought a new Dell G16 7630 (from your deals link) and while I could have waited for new 2024 models from different brands to go on sale, I jumped at the chance to grab a laptop with an I9,4070 and 32gb of ram for the same price as most mid tier set up's. Stay away from oled, and if you have enough to spend on an oled just go ahead and buy a mini led. You can watch comparison videos, miniled is almost oled quality without the danger of burn in.

I am planning to buy Acer Nitro V with the specs : I7 13620H, RTX 2050, DDR5 5200MHz But with 10$ more i can get MSI GF63 THIN I7 12650H, RTX 4050, DDR4 3400MHz I dont really know how to tell which one is better, since theres little to no review about the Acer Nitro V, im planning to use this laptop as a secondary gaming pc (since i have a pc which i will most likely play on it more often), but i also want to do coding which i know both of these laptop will do just fine. I am buying a gaming laptop and i have the Legion Pro 5i 2023model (i7 13700hx / rtx4060 / 240hz) and the Asus Rog Strix G15 advantage edition 2021model (ryzen9 5980hx / Rx6800m / 1440p 165hz) both at $1499. I dont know if the newer laptop is more worthy than the older all-amd laptop comparing merely on gaming performance that is the main purpose. Hi Jarrod I have a question and would love your opinion. I’m looking at a legion pro 5 with intel 13700hx and a rtx 4060 for 1800 cad im also looking at a Acer Helios neo 16 with I 9 1400hx with a 4070 and 500 nit screen for 2200 . I’m coming from a 4 year old nitro 5 and I had no issues and was able to play my games just fine especially while travelling ! I’ve also heard good things from Lenovo ( my work computer ) your opinion would be greatly appreciated thanks

You are exactly right Jared. I have been seeing huge discounts on Lenovo and Asus gaming laptops. There are 32GB RAM, 1TB storage, 4070’s available for $1500 and 4060’s for $1000 (16GB RAM though). Insane value right now on 2023 models

I almost pulled the trigger on Scar 18 which would've put be back 1000 dollars more than the 2023 version. In the end I ended up getting neither because why not just wait for the new GPUs and CPUs?

They are fresh so they cost more money. Performance increase is minimal. Most of them come with win 11 installed. There are no good ones yet that hit that bang for your buck spot real nice.

Depending on TGP of 3070ti. If it's 140+ then definetely 3070ti, it will do much more better.

@@yarikyaryi I found out that azus tuf screen's response time is very slow and won't benefit from the 144hz refresh rate which is a big turn off. I ended up buying lenovo legion 2023 with ryzen 7 7735hs and rtx 4060, I'm really happy with it

@@TheGintama86 - Hey there. I got the Asus ROG Strix, and it's been great. Heavy as heck, but that's what a big backpack is for :). I run it on silent mode to keep the power draw down in our cabin (we live off-grid), and I can play games and due work without any issues. I don't play anything that would push the unit, but I wanted something that would work for whatever I needed for the foreseeable future. I think this unit was a great deal. Cheers Rick

Hey Jarrod, I plan on getting a gaming laptop soon and I can't pick between the HP VICTUS 15 FB1013dx and the HP VICTUS 15 FA1093dx, the 2nd one is a bit more expensive (around 60-90 dollars) but has more VRAM - a better cpu and gpu, so what do you recommend? Note: I can't spend any more than this

Alright so I'll list the specs quickly, the first one has an AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS, it comes with 8gb ram upgradable to 32gb (DDR5 4800 MHz) and comes with a 512gb SSD upgradable to 2TB. It comes with an RYX 2050 (4gb) around 50W TGP. The 2nd one however which is a bit more expensive is the 2023 model which comes with an i5-13420H RTX 3050 6gb VRAM 75W TGP, aside from that it comes with DDR4 instead of DDR5 - everything else is pretty much the same. So is it worth spending 60-90 more dollars on it or would I be better off getting the 2050 AMD Ryzen 7535HS? I'll have to use this laptop for the next 4 years. @@JarrodsTech

I have a Legion 5 Pro with 5800H/3070 and I really want to upgrade but I can't find any new laptops that fit my needs since 4K laptops are pretty much not made at this point (I get that it doesn't make sense since a 4K screen is hard to drive on a laptop) Basically what I want is 16+ size screen and 4K+ screen with a refresh of at least 120Hz - it doesn't even need to have a dedicated video card or powerful CPU since it's mainly for media consumption.

Good tips. I somehow bought an open box Asus G18 4080/13980hx/64gb ram model on eBay listed for $1995, but eBay applied a coupon (definitely some error)! And the price was reduced to $1633. Definitely a lucky snag and happy to pay much less than the 2024 gaming laptop premium.

It's more that 2024 models aren't really any better than 2023 models, so you might as well buy one of them for cheaper. We don't have any info on what we can expect from 50 series yet.
