Color wise, Blue looks amazing. Can't wait to order one next week to test it out with Linux. My use case would be for a portable Operating System drive. I'm starting 2nd semester college on May 22nd. Having a lightweight, compact Disk (That also happens to be rugged) is a must for students like me. - Fedora 36 is just around the corner and it's what I'm thinking of installing. Might be as well a good opportunity to benchmark the Drive against the different Filesystems such as EXT4 or Btrfs (Fedora default). Thanks again for the video. 💯

i am sure that when Lacie made their external disks they were thinking they will do great blackboxes in case of a crash because of their color... they look too bulky, flashy and they are pricey... The Samsung ones are small, nice to look at and last but not least they have the speed you need ! and also they are more discrete !

The T7 Shield is a great deal as it makes it easier for upcoming creator and people to get quality and reputable external SSD at a decent price... You don't need to have Lacie money to get an SSD with good protection and build quality. The 5 year warranty is a deal breaker, most manufacturers offer 3 years only... Samsung offering 5 years, that's just amazing and assuring 😊😊😊

Just bought the newer 4T SHIELD version, only available in black, but hey for $279.99, it's a good price esp. compared to what seems ideal at 2800 speeds, the Sandisk Professional PRO-40 with only 2TB at $379.99, a hundred more for 2TB less. A Sandisk Pro. with 4TB is coming but I guess it will be about 5 or 6 hundred, ouch! Thanks Robeytech! That was very entertaining!

The T7 Shield 4tb version is in my country at the moment 209 euros so i am going for that sucker ,a nice external ssd to back up my 3d mkv movies,great video.........

Usually NVMe technology overheats the device. This is the reason why Samsung T7, T7 shield and SanDisk Extreme portable SSDs become heated quickly. In addition, SanDisk Extreme portable SSD has data loss issue as well according to survey

For someone who does occasionally have to travel for work, or who uses it for a gaming console in a spot where it might risk a drop, this seems handy. Traffic cone orange makes it easy to find, haha. I do have a different Samsung SSD with rubber bumpers that’s been useful for my PS4 games, and came in a color that complemented my PS5.

Ive got this drive but i tore it apart and made it an internal sata ssd, but before that used it for consoles, very good one :)

@@alin.danila I couldn’t find concrete answers on what the drive is inside them just that they were comparable to like 860 evos I believe. But it really wasn’t hard at all took maybe 5 mins just bought the sabrant msata to sata kit 5-10$

I just now un-packed my Samsung T7 Shield 4TB external drive and am reading the instructions. I'm surprised and very worried to read a harshly worded warning about using it with USB ports older than Generation 3.2 or computers that don't support UASP. I hadn't even thought about the "3.2 USB" mentions I was reading in the ads online, especially when the sales guy steered me to this drive. And the UASP thing is totally news to me. The scary sentences: "...the use of non-compliant or incompatible devices and interface ports may result in personnel injury, damage to both devices, and/or property damage. The use of incompatible USB ports or file format settings may result in poor performance or malfunction of both devices." The same paragraph also says "Make sure that your system supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol)."

why didn't you mention the real reason why editors use Lacie products over Samsung?. Data recovery. Samsung advises you back up what you already have on your SSD T5 on another drive to avoid any data loss. Lacie however offer a 5 year data recovery service with over a 95% success rate on all customers who have used it. This is why I never watch video's that are sponsored by the manufacturer.
