I live in northern Canada and we get a lot of snow. I bought one this year and it has been a godsend. I have sciatica, so all the bending, lifting and tossing is hard on my back. The only difficulty I’ve had was with our very first snowfall where we got 2 feet + overnight. That was a bit much for SnowJoe to handle. But anything up to say a foot it works great and leaves the walk much cleaner and more even than I can shovel. Gas powered was out of my price range. The SnowJoe was affordable, no maintenance and light enough that I can pick it up and carry it up 4 steps to do my deck. I’m glad I bought it.

Great Video....I have a SJ 26in model and use it for my massive deck. It does a fantastic job. I keep it inside in the winter in a water tray to avoid it freezing up. Very light weight to transport.I actually used it once on my driveway when there was 3 in of slush. It worked better with the slush than my big gas blower since it blocked up contantly with the slush..I love my SJ ....WN

Hey there thx for this! I have one and it has handled 30cm up here worth...about 12 inches....any higher you have to tilt it up to catch the top half then run again for the bottom half. It's great! My only peeve is the plug in cord part and how it sticks out from the electrical box. It's not streamlined like the 625E. Was using it 3 days worth in 5 degree F weather and the sheathing snapped exposing the wires bare. Got a good zap from it....anyway, swapped it for the 625 and I'm waiting for it to arrive now!
@mike7gerald
@mike7gerald Жыл бұрын
The cold weather cracks the cord from lots of bending action. I repaired it myself when the wires shorted against each other. That required opening the handle and reconnecting a good part of the cord. Also, use a GFI outlet for your safety.

The SJ627E has lots of plastic parts that easily break. My plastic Chute broke from rocks in the snow and the scraper blade broke when it bumped a loose brick. Also, the replacement parts are always out-of-stock, ('so sorry!', they keep saying to all the customers). I rigged a replacement chute out of a large soup can and may have to construct a scraper bar out of metal--if they don't send one soon.

I used this blower for the first time yesterday in NY for about 1 foot of snow maybe just under a foot.... It got the job done but I have to say I was very underwhelmed. Snow was clogging it easily, it was having trouble throwing snow far.... and if you want to try to throw the snow straight and not as far it doesnt do a good job with that.... too many problems with the snow blowing back at me. My small old toro electric snow blower did a better job last year handling more snow. I thought this one would be a power house compared to what I used last yr, especially being rated for more snow... but it struggled.
@Ryan-re1rs
@Ryan-re1rs Жыл бұрын
You need to use both at once to see if the other one was better. Snow comes in too many types and its hard to say one was better if the snow was sticky this time.. not saying snow joe is better then any toro because its not. But I paid 160 for it compared to 499 for the cheapest toro I saw.

I wasn't surprised when you said to run it in the snow at about 75% of the width of the blower. I have a small gas blower that is about the same size as that. I have to do 1/2 to 3/4 of the blower on the snow for it to take the heavier snow. IF you live where you have big snow then get a big blower. Where I am a little thrower like yours would likely work just fine as long as the power is there. If you lost electric, you're screwed.

I also live in Winnipeg and use the SJ627E. But it often breaks: cord shorted, plastic chute cracked from rocks in the snow, scraper blade broke in half and last year the auger bearing wore out--but luckily my 1 year warranty took care of that. It works great but use it VERY delicately to avoid breaking the plastic parts.

To match the power of typical two stage snowblower gas engine you'd need a 220v circuit running at about 20-30 amps. We are hampered in North America by 120v 15 or 20 amp circuits, which is the equivalent of a 2 to 3 hp small gas engine. Typical two stage snowblower engines are about 4 times that power.

I reported and got a replacement after more than 10 calls and several emails reminders. By the time I got the replacement the snow season stopped. This year I got chance to use my Sun Joe SJ627E Snow blower. It works only few times and thereafter its belt come off after every 1-2 minutes of use. As the belt is very loose therefore it does not through the snow far away that it should be. I called and emailed Sun Joe customer service. The customer service said that she does not know how to adjust the tension of the belt. And she didn't find any instruction of adjusting the belt tension. The email I sent to Sun Joe I just got a ticket number but did not get a reply how to adjust the belt tension. If any one know please post here.

Maybe you can answer my question, we had about 1/2" of snow yesterday and knowing that wasn't much snow I thought I'd test my new snow joe. I was very disappointed, it threw some of the snow about 2 ft max but most of what was coming out the shute dribbled out and landed on the machine. Do you need more than 1" of snow for the blower to perform like it's supposed to? The motor sounded very strong, it just didn't throw the snow. Thanks for sharing your video.

Not only that, but gas and the fumes smell so bad and it is noisy and vibrates a lot.

All these people saying buy a big old gas two stage honker clearly aren't comprehending what these units are for. People in areas where they might get 2-3 snows over a few inches a year and or have small driveways there is absolutely no reason to spend upwards of 1k on a big dirty snowblower.
