Can you make a video warning new knife collectors about all the junk "Damascus" knives out there? Instagram has a TON of accounts purporting to be handmade American knives, but they're really just soft Pakistani junk steel.

Great information Carter! I just started on Reddit knife swap in the beginning of this year and I’ve gotten some pretty stellar deals. I do worry about scammers but have avoided them for the most part. Descriptions haven’t always been completely accurate and sometimes just not mentioning that there’s no box etc.. Thanks for the tips. I left Facebook entirely years ago but I think it’s for the best.

That's a good one too. Don't assume accessories are included and thr term "condution" can be subjective

The decrease in quality of people in the hobby is inversely proportional to the increase in quality of manufacturing, the last decade or so. Nobody is hacking accounts. Stupid people are giving away their passwords. Usually, stupid people with tons of history there. I avoid that place the best i can, but what do i know...

So I have only been a buyer until now (need room) and I have blade forums account. How do I get people to trust me even though I've never sold anything? And yea I have gotten a bad one 2nd hand before, but have grails also

Have you been getting feedback on your purchases? Even if you are only buying you should be asking for feedback. You can take video of you with the knife and something written on paper stating the buyers username. As well as point them to any other platforms where you are known.

So you can sell knives on FB marketplace? I was under the impression that it was against their policies.

That's the biggest for sale marketplace I am awareness and where I do most of my selling and biying. FB has been getting their underwear in a bunch a little lately though

11:59 Well, guess I can’t use the name Seguyah Shmegma for my scamming activities now. Thanks for ruining that.

Any advise for someone like me who's new to the hobby so I don't have any history how can I still sell and not have people think I'm a scammer due to my lack of history?
@edged_mindset22 күн бұрын
Unfortinatly you might have to accept goods and services or even ship you knife without payment then getting payment once recieved to build up rep. You would have to 100% vet the buyer in this case.

@edged_mindset yeah that's tough because all my trust falls with a person I also don't know lol so I'd have to hope once they receive the item they'd pay me smh it sucks that so many people ruin stuff for honest good people thanks for the advise tho I appreciate it!!!

Make videos, show your face and knife. Show the seller you are who you say you are and you have that knife infront of you. I've rarely seen a scammer actually have the knife they're trying to scam you for. Say something unique too, having picture and audio will help people believe you.

It's veeeeeery rarely gonna be the new people that do the scamming. I've seen more than a few people use their experience to scam to varying degrees.
