For reference: 1. a 90% def/spr break compared to an 89% break is ~10% damage. An 89% break multiplies your damage by 9.09x, while a 90% break multiples it by 10x. 2. 86% breaks multiply your damage by only 7.14x, compared to 9 and 10 from 89% and 90% breaks. A 90% break allows you to deal 1.4x the damage an 86% break does. For mitigation: 1. 89% vs 90% = 90% reduces damage taken by a factor of 10 (take 10% regular damage), while 89% reduces it by a factor of 9.09 (take ~11% regular damage), or 10% more than a 90% break. 2. 86% = reduces damage taken by 7.14, meaning you take 14% regular damage. 86% breaks mean you take 1.4x the damage you would with a 90% break. The Def/Spr breaks normally will only change your high score in events like Clash of Whales or Dark Visions, but the att/mag breaks can cause you to lose more difficult fights, especially if trying to do the att/mag increases in Clash of Whales.

I got all 90% breakers save for crowned Locke, and my goto has got to be Lara: her break chains with Karten's insane T1 burst so it's almost always all I need to clear (not cap) DV

I have Hawkeye, Verra, Lara and Louise. Louise is way more versatile and has species buffs, fire imbues, fire break, and fire absorb, I haven't used the others for a while. I just keep the obsidian bracer on Ethster and I do just fine. Having a preemptive 80% full break on turn 0 has massively paid off in lots of trials.

We miss you on FFBE

I missed Lara, Hawkeye, and Vinera round 1 while taking a break from the game. Got Vinera off a ticket and she was already critical to otking the FF1 boss rush and improving my DV score against the Dragon boss. So I’m happy to have her as an option but would love to have Lara and her DPS and killers. Here’s to hoping Kaito is in the Lara mold and a viable substitute with a 90% defense break.

I got SoS Lightning, Louise, Locke, and Lara. Honestly I just kind of wish Locke can just do a bit more in my teams cuz sometimes I end up eating dirt in a boss fight and need a hell marry. But I use Lara for beast who are weak to fire and I use Louise for enemies who's weakness is fire in general (she's very useful, but good God she just eats through mana like crazy)

The Louise bad voice acting weakness is so real. She sounds so incredibly bored... "oh... like hey... I'm shooting a giant F-off laser... I need a nap"

If I have room for a dedicated breaker, I'll either choose my Vinera or Kaktiria. These days to do really good damage you need: weapon imperil, element imperil, element imbue, Stats boosts, LB boosts, Element fields and species killers along with breaks.

I have Louise, Lara, Hawkeye and Vinera... I try to field them where possible in a boss fight lol As you've mentioned, we usually have to build a team around the boss/challenges... Hence, 90% breakers may get benched for units that provide better survivability

People like Locke. He's just a mess in design in Exvius and expensive as hell(Even though I'm using him). I cannot fathom how the hell Locke doesn't have a CG with his Dissidia model being out there. What a website to see damage?

I was just saying the other day how I've been playing this game for years and still do not understand the math of damage in this game. It is very convoluted: Breaks, imperils, amplifications, fields, imbues, I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of other stuff. Some day maybe those in game sources GUMI keeps telling us to trust will explain it so we can play the game effectively. Until then I'll just keep watching videos like this one to looks for the solution to how the hell do you fit all this onto a team. because if you do eventually there is no room for a DPS unit. Unless you're Lara cause then you can do everything.
