Yes, I notice a pattern - the examples are on screen for roughly half the time I need to read them!! You need writing to be on the screen longer!

I enjoyed this video and all your videos very much! But I think that in a way, this video was teaching the preterite similarly to using a conjugation table, but by doing it one "chunk" at a time. At the end of the day, the learner is still going to have to memorize all those verb endings, not to mention all the irregular verbs like "poner" and "ir".

I'm English and learning for Spain itself - I have to know the vosotros/vosotras forms too!!

Vosotros/Vosotras is exactly the same as "ustedes" and it uses the same conjugations. You have nothing to worry about 👍🏻

@@sammy0892No it doesn’t… ustedes uses the same conjugations as ellos/ellas. Vosotros has different endings entirely.

Only advice I have found worthy is if you forget the conjugation, spit out the infinitive. To say "I to eat yesterday" probably isn't the best thing to say, but it's better than standing there stuttering.

Why does "I was" translate to "lo fui" instead of "lo era" or "lo estaba" here? 4:48

It depends on what you're trying to say. I don't remember the example in the video you're referring to, but in general, "fui" would refer to something that happened just once. Also, "fui" means both "I was" and "I went".

It is because, in Spanish, the verb "to be" splits into "ser" (normally used to explain a personality trait, your profession or used to describe who and how you are; i.e, "I'm outgoing", "I'm an engineer", "I'm tall", "I'm your cousin", "I'm from x city") and "estar" (more commonly used to describe how you feel physically or emotionally or where you are, as in: "I'm tired", "I''m sad", "I'm at the airport"), she said "lo fui" because she described herself as a drunkard thus she was using "ser" instead of "estar". "Lo era" Is a different tense and "lo estaba" would mean that she was drunk, not that she was a drunkard.
