This is kind of a forgotten time (late '80's)rock history after new wave but before alternative became huge. Kind of a transition era. TMBG have distorted guitars that alt-rock would be known for. While most '90's alt would self depreciating TMBG still had the goofy nerdy fun in a B-52's kind of way

You can't get in where they filmed this anymore. It's barricaded off and so are the space ship things from Men In Black. I was in Queens for a Mets game and thought, I should try to see where they filmed the video but it's all run down and grass is growing through the concrete. Sad to see it go.

Yeah, Linnell is gorgeous lol This and the "Birdhouse in Your Soul" videos inspired me to wear dark turtle-necks constantly for a brief period of time... Sometimes I still do...

Despite their goofiness, you can tell these guys are very good students of music

You know when you hear a song and you know its good, but it becomes special the moment you feel that little chill at the bottom of your spine and all you can do is smile? I used to get that all the time as I introduced myself to new music, and for the first time in a while I felt it again :)

You know what's the second best thing in this song (besides the actual song itself)? The choreography. Beyond a doubt.

At this point in their career, they had no drummer; just a drumming machine.

I remember staying up late one Sunday night to watch 120 minutes on MTV (back when the word alternative music was legitimate). I saw this video and was hooked ever since. Also I think I was barely a teenager then...maybe not.

"He is William Allen White, beloved Kansan, small-town newspaperman and prominent progressive. His editorials in the Emporia Gazette won him the Pulitzer Prize. And a run for governor centered on a single issue: ridding the state of the KKK."
@MACpro5816 жыл бұрын
There were a lot of bad videos then, too. In fact early music videos were unknown territory for bands, and some were really lame. Then came the hair-bands, and their videos tried so hard to make them look so cool, so this was quite a crack up by comparison. Back then I used to confuse these guys with Bare Naked Ladies on the radio.
