Don't let your tour pack fall off!!! Stabilizing a quick-release tour pack on a Harley Ultra Limited

I converted my tour pack on my 2021 ‪@harleydavidson‬ Ultra Limited shortly after I got the bike and I didn't use Harley's kit. I used lighting from ‪@customdynamics‬, and the top rated docking kit and tour pack rack on Amazon. Well, everything else worked great EXCEPT for the Amazon stuff. The pack has always been loose, even after changing out the latches to locking latches, I am still not happy with the stability of the pack, and I am convinced it could come off. Today I swapped the docking kit and tour pack rack to the ones manufactured by ‪@Advanblack‬, and as I expected, the difference is huge. The rack is stainless and sturdy, and the latches are nice and snug. The pack no longer moves at all, and I am not worried about it coming off anymore. Thanks again to my friends at Advanblack, I really appreciate the piece of mind. I have those scratch guards on my bags exact same ones and they’re awesome I have airbags and when I forget to air up a scrape coming out of every every driveway so it saves my bags multiple times

I like how the Ultra turning out, I think I do something similar if I got an Ultra, it already has a better suspension than the SG, since they lower the SGs from factory.

When I bought my chopped Advanblack tour pak I was cussing the tolerances. It's been almost 2 years ago but I literally had to relieve some steel to get it to doc. It's still tighter then hell. Maybe they fine tuned the machine work since then. My only other bitches on Advanblack was the lever fell apart after a year while on the road ( bungeed down didn't help the paint) and 2 years in I've got some raised paint blisters. They did send the latching mech without charge but it sounds like they have improved their product. Sucks I was in the before group.

Looks good Monkey. Amazon is definitely hit or miss but my bags (TCMT) I still have on and function %100 after two seasons without a hiccup, easy to remove and look legit, 5" stretched and I've loaded them up on some long road trips. I actually made some home made skid plates for the bags using 3/16" gauge steel x2"w x 6"L and they work great. Should've used stainless because they rust but they look pretty cool at night sparking in a corner lol. They come black but put some wax or sealer on them and they look like stock painted bags, you wouldn't know the difference unless you knew and the best part, if they break, replace both for under $300.

Hey PM, excellent video! I too bought Ebay, (not Amazon) rack and docking hardware. I have also noticed the tour pak is loose on my 05 Roadking...but I sure hate to purchase a new Docking hardware kit and another rack...but, if that's how I get it to quit being loose...

I bought a quick disconnect kit for my 98 Electraglide from some vendor on ebay (some no-name brand), and the crap broke apart after first use. Ended just biting the bullet and buying from the dealership. Not the cheapest thing I've ever bought, but at least I got what I paid for.

I added the Advanblack hardware to mine as well. And have their brackets on both my razor and King tour pack. Extremely well-made and you save a lot vs going to Harley. I love the the versatility that quick detach kit adds to the bike.

I just want my damn tour pack to stay latched. Bought an AB King about 4 months ago. Within 500 miles of riding with it, the screws on the latch backed out and the lid flew open. They sent a new latch and it stayed closed for about 1500 miles. But yesterday heading up to the HD museum, she came loose again. Waiting to hear back from the AB guys and I’m just hoping that when she flew open that it didn’t bend or stress something that has wrecked the $1200 purchase

@@ProfessionalMonkey I’m hoping it’s not an issue with their M8 Softail stuff. I’ve also heard others say to buy the Harley latch. Overall I like the tourpack but if it won’t stay latched, that’s kind of a dealbreaker. Not to mention that the powder coat is coming up too on the latch. There’s a shop not too far from work that’s an AB dealer so I might try to hit them up and see if they got any ideas. Thanks Monk

From one big guy to another. Since you are space crunched and have to worry about sound. Go to harbor freight and get a 3 speed portable blower. They are great and can really move air for their size. Perfect for moving around your garage.

I wish Advanback would have sold a tour Pak with the CVO two colors and detailed pin stripping, I would have given them the business. I returned the HD shelf/bracket and had to pay return shipping, not expensive, but just like Harley they squeeze you to death. I`ll let you know how AB unit looks like when I receive it. Thanks

I have the same locks,air wing….keep an eye on the cap head bolts.ours came loose many times on a 2300 mile trip.the hardware is complete junk.

Good to know that you are in South Florida. I have a friend who owns Copperpoint Brewery in Boynton. I think I could arrange a setup there for you to do a remote. He makes a coffee Lager that is to die for. Tell Advanblack that they need to start making accessible for the Indian Chief models. You can contact me any time. @@ProfessionalMonkey That quick release setup is the way to go. As for the electronics, that is the easy part. I can and have built wiring harnesses for previous bikes. Not fun but beats paying someone else to do it.

Good Morning Mr. Monkey King Sir your Highness! You know better then most that I don't care for new and modern. But I do like your scoots! Gifted, bought or stolen what you do to your machines does make them better. I get to load my friends bike in my pickup and leave Texas today. YEAH! Heat? Things we do for brotherhood! Manufacturers that don't give actual specs to after market companies only cheat themselves and the consumer. I think Harley could build better modern bikes if they left accessorising to the after market and concentrated on making the motorcycle. Having been behind a rider whose factory pannier fell off during a fun run, I know that sister likes her after market panniers attachment much better. Have a great weekend and maybe I'll join you and the Mrs. before I go see Phil Hurley & The Lost Pines at the Moody theatre tonight. So, I had this thought awhile back when you unhooked the back speakers. Could you remove the speakers and put a quick snap cover (don't know if they make any) and use for storage. Like gloves, charger cables, or whatnot. 🤔

I just purchased the Harley tour pak along with the detachable shelf from HD...the shelf was unfinished on the "Underside of the shelf" plus scratched on the top. Just wondering if Advanbacks shelf is 100% finished both on the top and the underside of the unit? If you send me your email address I will send you some pics of what Harley sold me. Thanks

I designed and developed a bracket out of stainless steel, laser cut and cnc break press for 2014 and up detachable tour packs. As you know you have to zip tie wires on the tour pack. This bracket works with harley christmas tree tabs. Send me you email and I will send you one. Free of charge. Ill send pics also. Not sure how to pm on you tube.

if you want it to never move you need to look at theese guys amsmotomachine.com/index.php/main-harley-parts thier br509 tourpack bushings are made of solid stainless steel and make it feel like the tourpack is hard mounted, the rubber bushings that harley and advanblack uses will eventually fail and the loosness of the tourpack will be back, theese solve that issue
