The hive shown in this video is the "Eco Bee Box" designed by Albert Chubak and available from ecobeebox.com It is the Langstroth version of the Quadratic hive (based on UK National dimensions), plans for which are available at biobees.com

I now have my first swarm of bees. I visited my in-laws on Sunday to pick up topbar hive number 2 and a short while later one of his hives swarmed into a tree in the neighbours garden. We were able to collect them and we located the marked queen and they were brought to me yesterday. They are now happily settled in my brand new hive. The luck and the timing was perfect. I can't put into words how happy I am. My first bees.

I got a swarm yesterday 15' overhead in a tangled tree. No chance of branch removal without devastating the tree. Used the beevac I made this year. The ladies love their new home. Also did a cut-out in a 200 year old home. Thanks for your videos Phil.

Easier than retrieval from a freshly cut hedge, where there was only a mass of intertwined short stems. I enjoyed your expert retrieval.

I get them exactly same way No aggravating them not scarring and they feel it was their decision to move in the box

This was really helpful. I have just collected the same cast swarm three times! I am thinking I will take them somewhere else so they don't swarm again. I hope it works. I didn't arielise them at all but they are super flighty, they keep returning to the same tree.....any advice?

Gently - gently. Would not want to be subject to their rough. That was a very unusually sized hive you were getting them into, were they quadratic boxes?

The small one was an Apidea.
